Barnsley have confirmed Kacper Lopata has left the League One club to join Polish side Lechia Gdansk.
The 24-year-old centre-back joined the Reds on a four-year deal in 2023 and played 17 times for the club but has not featured in the past two seasons.
Lopata had four loan spells during that time at Port Vale, Ross County, Bristol Rovers and Walsall but has returned to Poland for an undisclosed fee.
His departure is part of a defensive overhaul by head coach Daniel Stendel with the club heavily linked with 22-year-old Blackburn Rovers' centre-back Connor O'Riordan.
