Wigan Athletic have signed Fulham midfielder Luke Harris on a season-long loan deal.

The 21-year-old has previously had loan spells in the EFL with Exeter City, Birmingham City, Oxford United and Wycombe Wanderers.

He is the third player to join the Latics on loan from a Premier League side this week after Reggie Walsh and Charlie Gray signed season-long deals from Chelsea and Manchester City respectively on Wednesday.

Harris, who played under Wigan boss Gary Caldwell during his time with Exeter, could make his debut at home to Leyton Orient on Saturday.

Wigan Athletic have signed Manchester City defender Finley Burns on a three-year deal.

The 23-year-old came through City's academy and made his only appearance for the senior side in an EFL Cup win over Wycombe in September 2021.

He has spent time on loan with Swansea, Stevenage, Hull City and Reading in the past five seasons.

Wigan Athletic are closing in on a season-long loan move for Chelsea midfielder Reggie Walsh.

The 17-year-old is also expected to sign a new contract on improved terms before heading out on his first loan spell in League One.

Walsh has just returned from Chelsea's pre-season tour of Australia and Asia under new manager Xabi Alonso. He still has to finalise personal terms and complete a medical in the North West.

However, the youngster was keen to play men's football this season after becoming Chelsea's youngest player to appear in the Champions League. He has also made three further senior appearances for the club.

Chelsea signed Harrison Bettoni from Wigan earlier in the transfer window. The midfielder, who plays in a similar position to Walsh, joined to strengthen the club's academy ranks.

Chelsea are also planning a similar move for academy winger Ryan Kavuma-McQueen, who is nearing a loan move to Championship side Portsmouth after travelling on the first-team's pre-season tour.

Striker Shim Mheuka is also expected to sign a new contract this week after broadly agreeing terms to remain at the club.

Mheuka, who was named Premier League 2 Player of the Season after scoring 17 goals in 17 appearances for the Under-21s last season, is then expected to join a club on loan.

Wigan Athletic have signed Bournemouth defender Archie Harris for an undisclosed fee on a two-year deal.

The 21-year-old made 41 league appearances for National League Eastleigh while on loan there last season.

The Wales Under-21 international featured in a pre-season game for the Latics as a trialist.

He could now make his competitive debut for Gary Caldwell's side against Barnsley in the Carabao Cup first round on Saturday.

Oldham Athletic have signed Tom Hill after his exit from Harrogate Town as well as bringing back fellow midfielder Kai Payne for a third loan spell from Wigan.

Hill, 23, has been on trial with the Latics having initially been invited to train with Harrogate, external during pre-season.

A former Wales Under-21 international who came through Liverpool's academy, Hill scored for Oldham during their 4-0 pre-season friendly win over Sheffield Wednesday last weekend.

"Everything has been promising during pre-season and scoring last week was a special moment - hopefully it's the first of many good memories here," Hill told the club website., external

"I'm excited for the season ahead and can't wait to pull on the shirt competitively."

Meanwhile, 21-year-old Payne returns having made 35 appearances for Oldham last season as well as five appearances during his previous loan stint in 2024-25.

Boss Micky Mellon said of Payne: "Kai has been excellent for us in every spell here and we're delighted to have him back.

"He's a player who understands what we're about, knows the standards we expect and fits perfectly into the way we want to play."

Chelsea have signed 18-year-old midfielder Harrison Bettoni from Wigan Athletic.

Bettoni joins on a four year contract, with the League One club due training compensation.

It is expected that Bettoni, whose contract at Wigan expired in June, will spend a season in Chelsea's academy teams and on the fringes of Xabi Alonso's first-team squad.

The Stockport-born forward made 27 appearances for Wigan at senior level in a breakthrough 2025-26 campaign, scoring four goals, including his side's goal of the season for his debut goal against AFC Wimbledon.

He also featured against Arsenal in an FA Cup fourth-round tie.

Bettoni has been at Wigan since under-13s level having joined from Bury in 2019.

Wigan Athletic winger Callum McManaman has signed a new deal to remain with the League One club in a player-mentor role.

The 35-year-old is in his third spell having rejoined in 2023 and will combine his two roles from this upcoming season.

McManaman, who helped Wigan win the FA Cup in 2013, has made a total of 229 appearances for the Latics.

"Wigan Athletic has been a huge part of my life for a long time, so to be able to continue my journey here means everything to me," he said., external

"I still feel I've got plenty to offer on the pitch, and I'll always be ready to contribute whenever I'm needed, but I'm also really excited about the opportunity to help some of the younger lads coming through."
