    League One

Wednesday night ends in heartache for Northampton Town fans but could jubilation be on the cards for Bromley in 24 hours' time?

We return tomorrow evening to see Port Vale try to rise up the table and avoid relegation with a trip to Peterborough.

While over in League Two, Bromley could secure promotion into the third tier but only if they beat fellow promotion chasers Cambridge United.

Same time, same place. Meet you there?

Northampton's loss to Luton Town confirms their relegation to League Two and leaves them right at the bottom of the table.

Hosts Luton, however, earn a chance at striking into the top six with Stevenage set to face league leaders Lincoln City at the weekend.

AFC Wimbledon failed to take themselves out of danger at the other end after their 2-0 loss against Stockport. It leaves them only three points above Exeter City and with a poorer goal difference.

    Simon Oxley
    BBC Three Counties Radio commentator

Luton have to catch Stevenage, that needs to be their focus. Luton probably need to win three of their four matches now.

A few weeks ago no-one was talking about play-offs. It felt so far off. Luton have sort of crept up out of nowhere.

They have won games and other teams have dropped points. It is a crazy situation we are in really.

I never saw this coming this season, I thought we would have enough. I never predicted this torrid run of form.

    Geoff Doyle

They just had to win this game and that is what they have done.

Some of the sides around them haven't been able to put a run together. Luton are doing that now.

  6. 'Our days in the sun are over'published at 21:44 BST 15 April

Former Premier League referee on BBC Radio Northampton

Tonight's game has been a breath of fresh air, the fans have stayed till the end. They delivered a performance, not the result but certainly a performance. Luton had a bit more class.

It wasn't about tonight though, it has been about the whole year. They have fell off for some reason. We don't know all the answers. The result is gutting, our days in the sun are over. We need a reset now.

    AFC Wimbledon 0-2 Stockport

Stockport seal the win with two second-half goals to increase their lead in the play-off spots to six points.

A classic Ollie Norwood set-piece set up Josh Stoke to head home an opener before Tayo Edun sealed the win with a sharp strike.

The visitors will go home happy but there will also be people in Exeter feeling hopeful as they take on Stockport for a chance to break out of the bottom four at the Dons expense on the weekend.

  9. FULL-TIMEpublished at 21:39 BST 15 April

    Luton 2-1 Northampton

Luton Town's victory condemns Northampton to League Two - and it is perhaps an unfortunate coincidence that their relegation comes exactly 50 years after they were promoted from the fourth tier in 1976.

The hosts came out sharper in the second half after a sluggish start and despite wasting chance after chance, skipper Kal Naismith made no such error with his direct free-kick.

He whistled a stunner into the net to wrap up the win and confirm Northampton as the second side to fall to League Two following Rotherham's relegation on Tuesday.

    Five minutes added to this.

Can AFC Wimbledon at least soften the score line?

  11. YELLOW CARDpublished at 21:35 BST 15 April

    AFC Wimbledon 0-2 Stockport

Stockport's Ollie Norwood is in the bad books for kicking the ball away.

He earns a yellow card but the minutes keep ticking by and it looks like he'll be celebrating sometime very soon.

  12. SUBSTITUTIONpublished at 21:33 BST 15 April

    Luton 2-1 Northampton

Luton first-half goal scorer Liam Walsh departs to warm applause as the sign is held up to announce six added minutes.

George Saville is on to see the game out.

That goal wouldn't look out of place in the Champions League. A massive goal for Luton and you can tell how much it meant to them, everyone was out of their seats.

  14. YELLOW CARDpublished at 21:32 BST 15 April

    AFC Wimbledon 0-2 Stockport

Stockport's Roman Dixon is cautioned for a naughty foul on Zack Nelson.

  15. 'What a strike'published at 21:31 BST 15 April

    Luton 2-1 Northampton

    Simon Oxley

What a strike that is. And what a reaction from the home crowd. Naismith had a go and he was right to do so.

They will look back on that goal for a long time.

  16. goal

GOAL: Luton 2-1 Northamptonpublished at 21:27 BST 15 April

    Kal Naismith (85 mins)

    How's that for a winner?!

Luton skipper Kal Naismith runs up to his free-kick with supreme power and blasts it in to bulge the back of the net.

The game is not over yet but given how the momentum has swung into the hosts favour, it seems like that could have just sealed an important win for Luton Town in style.

  17. SUBSTITUTIONSpublished at 21:26 BST 15 April

    Luton 1-1 Northampton

Jordan Clark has his shooting boots on but they don't seem to sending the ball on the right trajectory.

He's withdrawn, likely feeling rueful over his wasted chances, to be replaced by Davy van den Berg.

Luton also bring on Gideon Kodua for Emilio Lawrence, while Northampton take off scorer Sam Hoskins to make room for Terry Taylor.

  18. Postpublished at 21:24 BST 15 April

    Luton 1-1 Northampton

Liam Walsh may have scored the equaliser for Luton in the first half but he risks conceding with a sloppy pass.

The ball is intercepted by a Northampton player who drives forward, but the hosts recover well to ensure it doesn't leave their goalscorer red-faced.

    Geoff Doyle
Commentator on BBC Three Counties Radio

How are they missing these chances? It is another one you expect Clark to score. The strike from Al-Hamadi was fantastic.
