Everton boss David Moyes, speaking to BBC MOTD: "I didn't think a goal was coming. We stuck at it, resilient, we were good away from last season so hopefully we can keep it going.

"We needed somebody to come up with something. We did some amazing blocks late in the game. Pleased with a point.

"Might want the transfer window left open so we can get a few more players in! It closes Tuesday, let's see what happens. I have said we could do with strengthening and hopefully we can do that.

"We have a good basis. Let's hope we can build on it.

"I don't think we can afford to lose any players, certainly not our better ones. The club dictates a lot of that and we will see how the next few days go."

Newcastle United

It's raining in north London as the two teams gather in the tunnel. It's not that heavy but there are Newcastle fans in the away end who have whipped off their shirts and are waving them in the air.

It's another seriously impressive Toon Army away following. Many of these fans won't get home until the early hours of Sunday morning.

Bournemouth boss Marco Rose: "It was mostly about the result but as a coach you evaluate the performance as well and in most phases of the game it was really good.

"It was a quite open game, quite up and down. We can get better in some parts of the game. Today for me it was not even a set piece for the goal because we had already cleared the situation, but I don't want to blame anyone because I saw so many positive things.

"I am really thankful for the warm welcome and I really appreciate to be coach of this team. It was a really nice feeling to coach this game.

"Like last week we would like to present our fans with a win but we will have to wait one more week."

Omar Marmoush only completed his move to Tottenham Hotspur on Thursday, but it is not a surprise to see the striker thrown straight in this evening.

Remarkably, seven of the 16 goals Marmoush scored for Manchester City were against today's opponents Newcastle United, including a hat-trick on his debut for the club.

Newcastle won't need any reminding about the threat he carries. Nor will former team-mate Nico Gonzalez for that matter.

Gonzalez is also making his debut - for Newcastle - after finalising his move from Manchester City earlier this week.

The midfielder's ability to win the ball back will be crucial for the visitors at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium today.

Bournemouth

Bournemouth midfielder Alex Scott speaking to BBC Final Score: "I think we deserved to win the game. A mistake at the end and it has cost us three points. We had chances to go and win the game and didn't take them so for now it is head down and focus on Newcastle next week."

On Djordje Petrovic: "He made a few good saves, one from a corner really early on and a few in the second half. Probably an even game but we were the better team on the day and probably deserved the points but they stuck in there and got their goal at the end."

On his goal: "Evanilson is really good at running in behind and holding on to the ball and for me as a number eight I want to score more goals so making that extra burst to get on the scoresheet is important. Hopefully I can get a few more this year."

On the difference between Andoni Iraola and Marco Rose: "It's similar, probably a few more patterns on the ball. It's high pressing football, exciting football for the fans. It's going to take a few weeks to get used to. We're learning, he's a top manager and he has got top coaching staff as well so we have really enjoyed the weeks he has been here so looking forward to the season."

On his future and fan reaction: "They've been brilliant ever since I have been here. It's a great fanbase, a real family club. I owe a lot to them for how they have treated me when I wasn't in the team and came back in the team. Had a good season last year. They've always stuck with me and believed in me so it was great from them to feel that support today."

Newcastle boss Matthias Jaissle on his players coming up against Sandro Tonali: "It's always nice when you face old team-mates. There should be a special motivation.

"I think it worked against [Alexander] Isak already, so hopefully it will also work in this game.

"We will be facing a top team. We will not change our approach. We are facing a really strong opponent. With our playing style, we can cause any opponents problems."

It's 104 days since Sandro Tonali made his 79th and final Premier League appearance for Newcastle.

Today he lines up against the Toon for his new club Tottenham following a summer move to London for a club-record fee which could reach £100m.

Tonali, who helped Newcastle win the Carabao Cup in 2025, posted a farewell message to fans after his summer move.

"Thank you to the staff and my team-mates for believing in me and helping me grow," he wrote on social media after the end of his three-year stay at St James' Park.

"This city gave me more than football. It gave me a home, moments I'll hold onto forever, and people I will always be grateful for. Thank you for everything."

Brazil boss Carlo Ancelotti is sat next to Italy boss Roberto Mancini at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

Sadly for Ancelotti, Richarlison is not involved in this one.

But will £100m signing Sandro Tonali impress for Spurs against his old club in front of his national manager?

Spurs boss Roberto de Zerbi has been explaining to Sky Sports why Savio, who came on and scored on his debut against Charlton in the Carabao Cup in midweek, misses this game.

"We had some bad news yesterday. He suffered muscular fatigue. The medical staff didn't want to take a risk. I agree with them."

De Zerbi went on to say he does not expect the Brazil winger, who cost an initial £75m, to be out for long.

Five months ago Nico Gonzalez, Omar Marmoush and Savio all started Manchester City's FA Cup fifth round win at Newcastle.

Today, Gonzalez lines-up for Newcastle against Marmoush at Tottenham.

But there is no Savio for the home side. He has picked up an injury early into his Spurs career.

The season is days old but this feels huge for Spurs.

Having seen his side outclassed by Brentford on the opening weekend, Roberto de Zerbi took his summer spending beyond £300m by bringing in Brazil winger Savio who has since been joined in north London by Omar Marmoush, also from Manchester City.

De Zerbi is demanding an immediate response but today's opponents Newcastle twice took the lead during a high-energy performance against Liverpool last weekend.

However, they were unable to hang on and were forced to settle for a 2-2 draw after conceding a 99th-minute equaliser.

Newcastle have dropped more points from winning positions (29) than any other Premier League side since the start of last season.

This could be a cracker.

Just look at where Hull City are in the table!

Big-spending Tottenham are six points behind the newly-promoted Tigers.

Spurs need to get their season up and running quickly.
