Right, that just about does it for us today.

I've watched a fair bit of golf in my time, but that back-nine putting performance from Shane Lowry was right up there with the best I can remember.

The Doonbeg crowd will be hoping to see another inspired performance from their man tomorrow as he chases a second Irish Open win, 17 years after his first.

A first individual title since 2022 is within Shane Lowry's grasp.

Well then.

Seven years ago, Shane Lowry led by four shots at -16 after 54 holes at the Open Championship at Royal Portrush. He went on to win that one, of course.

He was also -16 after three rounds on his way to winning the 2009 Irish Open as an amateur.

Good omens? Perhaps.

Jacob Skov Olesen misses his short putt for par so Shane Lowry will take a four-shot lead into the final round.

Shame that. Olesen's played some lovely today and that's his only bogey of the day, but he's certainly still well in this.

Li Haotong finishes with a 72. He looks a bit miffed, as he has since that penalty drop at the 10th.

Now then.

Can Shane Lowry make it nine one-putt greens on the back nine?

A touch of right to left, around six feet or so. In it goes! Take a bow, Shane Lowry. Outstanding performance on the greens.

The leader again takes his time, scanning the slopes on the green before his pitch.

Ohhh it's a classy effort, played with a touch of check off the slope. It trickles a few feet past the pin but he'll have that for another par and a round of 65.

From a sandy lie off the left of the fairway, Shane Lowry can't find the green. His ball runs down the slope and nestles next to the grandstand, from which he'll take a free drop.

Jacob Skov Olesen sends his approach straight over the pin but it's half a club too much and he'll have around 25 feet for birdie.

Oh my word.

A horrendous hook from Shane Lowry off the 18th tee, but it looks as though he's gotten hugely fortunate as he avoids the tall stuff and nestles in the trampled-down pathway.

Up he steps. He's got another one! A putting clinic from the Irishman. Superb.

But Jacob Skov Olesen has a birdie putt coming back down the slope. Can he narrow the gap? No! It's a timid effort and Lowry remains three clear.

Shane Lowry does well to dig his second out of the thick stuff and leaves himself just short of the green.

Hmmm, he seems to misjudge his pitch slightly and leaves 12 feet for par.

Can the putter come to the rescue again?

Oh dear. Shane Lowry's driven into the nasty stuff at 17. The lie looks bad.

Joaquin Niemann pars the last for a four-under 66 and will enter the final round nine under par and likely in third place on his own.

But Tom McKibbin misses a short par putt and that's a sloppy bogey to close out what had been an impressive round from the Northern Irishman.

Rasmus Hojgaard reached -10 with five birdies in his first 10 holes earlier but has stumbled down the stretch and finishes six under.

Now then.

Jacob Skov Olesen has secured his par so Shane Lowry has this five-footer to remain three shots clear.

Takes his time over it...in it goes! The putter behaves once again and he keeps that nice bit of daylight at the top of the leaderboard.

Hmmm, not Shane's best effort at the par-three 16th.

He'll be relying on his razor-sharp short game once again.

He's out with the putter from the off the green and it comes up a good five feet shy. Nervy one left.

While Lowry was weighing up that putt, Joaquin Niemann had a chance to keep pace with the leader but his putt was short.

No sense of trying to sit on this lead from Shane Lowry!

Both the home favourite and Olesen are about 100 yards from the pin after their tee shots.

Olesen knocks his approach to within 10 feet but there's a huge roar from the gallery as Lowry lands his ball inside the Dane's.

Those cheers are even louder when, after Olesen doesn't quite get the right read, Lowry's putt drops for his sixth birdie of the day.

A three-shot lead for the Offaly man now!

Li still stuck in neutral with a par. He's joined at eight under by Tom McKibbin now.

Shane Lowry has missed another green - this time at the par-three 14th - and is forced to chip up, but he makes another putt for par!

He's shown real grit today and the crowd are really showing their appreciation!

Joaquin Niemann has just birdied the 16th so he moves into third place on his own at nine under.

The Chilean has won nine times on the LIV Tour so he knows how to get it done.

Rory McIlroy has been speaking to reporters after his four-over 74.

On his round: "Yeah, two doubles in the first six holes wasn't the way I wanted to start it, obviously. Yeah, a couple of wayward drives. I took a chance on three trying to hit driver there and get it close to the green and hit it out of bounds or lost ball, either/or.

"Then same thing on six. Tried to get it up close to the green, had to take an unplayable and made another one there. So no momentum early. And then it was a tough enough day. Obviously, the wind was up and stuff. Yeah, just couldn't quite get it back after that."

On being out on the course while US President Donald Trump arrived: "I guess not the experience we're used to in a way. I think it's Air Force One's maiden voyage, I think. So that was pretty cool.

"Cool to sort of see all that going on. I was trying to avoid making doubles at that point so I was trying to concentrate on my own stuff as well."

McIlroy also confirmed he is attending a dinner with Trump tonight.

That's huge from Shane Lowry!

Short of the green in two at 13, he chips up to around eight feet and rolls in another putt to keep his momentum going. You can tell he really wants this one.

Jacob Skov Olesen also makes a tidy par after an excellent chip from short of the green so he stays two back.
