Everton have been quoted a fee of about £40m for Monaco forward Folarin Balogun, although he is expected to be available for significantly less.

The United States international is keen to complete a move before Tuesday's deadline.

The situation is linked to Beto's exit to Fiorentina and potentially whether the Toffees sign Richarlison from Tottenham, with attacker Iliman Ndiaye going in the other direction.

Balogun didn't feature in his side's win over Marseille on Sunday night.

Liverpool Echo, external is reporting that the club is trying to get a deal done to sign United States striker Folarin Balogun from Monaco.

The former Arsenal player was a big hit for the co-hosts at this summer's World Cup, scoring three goals before things turned sour for him.

The 25-year-old became embroiled in one of the biggest controversies of the tournament when his suspension for a red card picked up in the USA's last-32 win over Bosnia-Herzegovina was overturned, following intervention from US President Donald Trump.

Balogun's two-game ban was suspended, allowing him to play in the last-16 tie against Belgium, but the USA lost 4-1.

Joshua Zirkzee's proposed loan from Manchester United to Fiorentina is off.

Sources in Italy are telling me Fiorentina are now hoping to sign Beto from Everton instead.

It does seem as though Juventus might come in for the Netherlands forward, although that is dependent on Canada forward Jonathan David completing a move to Atletico Madrid.

Zirkzee has been an unused substitute for both Manchester United games so far and does appear to be the most likely senior player to leave before the transfer window closes tomorrow night.

That might be key in whether United make additions to Michael Carrick's squad.

Carrick didn't totally rule it out after yesterday's 5-2 victory over Ipswich at Old Trafford.

"It's always difficult to say, to be honest, when there's so little time left but we're always open if there's something else to be able to add," he said.

"I wouldn't shut that down, but as it stands, we'll have to wait and see."

Everton are also growing increasingly confident of completing a loan deal to bring Jack Grealish back from Manchester City, although the precise terms of any agreement remain complicated as the England international enters the final year of his contract at Etihad Stadium.

Grealish has prioritised a return to Everton, where he spent last season on loan, over the option of rejoining his boyhood club Aston Villa, who have also expressed an interest.

Everton are also targeting a right-back and are close to agreeing a £9m deal for Fulham's Kenny Tete, who came close to joining last summer.

Fulham are already assessing potential replacements and have entered talks to sign Rayo Vallecano's Andrei Ratiu.

It is part of a chain of interconnected Premier League deals before Tuesday's transfer deadline.

The numbers may not look great on paper, but if Everton get money for a player who is looking to leave and bring in a striker with a point to prove who could add competition for improving young front man Thierno Barry then maybe, just maybe, David Moyes could end up being happy with this deal.

Paul Joyce, external, from The Times, reported that Tottenham were set to pay £60m for Illiman Ndiaye and Everton £35m for Richarlison.

It's not all bad for David Moyes though, while Tottenham are in advanced talks to sign Iliman Ndiaye from Everton, it looks as if former Toffees favourite Richarlison is set to move in the opposite direction as part of separate negotiations.

Although a deal for Ndiaye is largely agreed between the two clubs, it remains unclear whether he will make the switch to north London, with Manchester City among the clubs to have expressed an interest.

As mentioned, City have also held talks to sign Liverpool forward Cody Gakpo, another Spurs target, although the Reds would need to secure a replacement before sanctioning any move.

Everton are open to selling Ndiaye, 26, after he rejected multiple contract offers and held talks with Saudi club Al-Hilal earlier this summer.

Meanwhile, Everton have agreed terms in principle to re-sign striker Richarlison after he told Spurs head coach Roberto de Zerbi "too many times that he wants to leave".

Self-confessed "Evertonian" David Moyes will no doubt be a relieved manager after the club's decision to keep hold of bright young midfielder Harrison Armstrong.

The Toffees boss bristled at times when fielding countless transfer questions during his post-match presser following Saturday's draw at Bournemouth, but admitted that "supporters aren't always wrong" when asked about their reaction to the Armstrong reports.

However, when asked if he would be relieved to see the window close, the Scot countered that he would rather it stayed open longer to give him time to bring in more players.

It later transpired that the club was considering an approach from Tottenham for Senegal winger Iliman Ndiaye...

We mentioned Nottingham Forest and their reported interest in Liverpool's number two goalkeeper, well the club made waves on the other side of Merseyside over the weekend with a £40m bid for Everton midfielder Harrison Armstrong.

The England Under-19 international is regarded as one of the brightest prospects to emerge from Finch Farm in recent years.

The news enraged Everton supporters, who sang Armstrong's name throughout Saturday's draw at Bournemouth and said there would be a "riot" if he was sold.

Everton's board, led by chair Dan Friedkin, eventually decided to reject Forest's bid - with the owner at the forefront of the discussions.

So the powers-that-be at Liverpool could be kept busy today, but there is plenty going on elsewhere.

While Liverpool supporters have been urging the club to strengthen in certain areas, it seems the club is looking at a potential deal to sign a new teenage goalkeeper.

Liverpool Echo, external is reporting that the Anfield outfit is looking at Genk's 18-year-old Belgium youth international Lucca Brughmans, as Nottingham Forest weigh up a move for the Reds' reserve keeper Giorgi Mamardashvili.

Reports suggest that Real Madrid have also been linked with Brughmans, who has only made four appearances for Genk but has been earmarked as a potential star of the future by Liverpool's global talent department.
