@George 15:00. I have no doubt you're grateful for the memories of winning titles. The problem is you have those memories at the expense of fans at other clubs who stuck to the rules. The punishment must make everyone feel the cheating wasn't worth it. So very harsh indeed.

"Joey [Joelinton] is progressing well, he is doing better. We need to be smart in our load management."

As a City fan, I will say it's hard to be angry at our owners showing ambition and cheating by investing more than they should have. I'm so grateful for the memories our club created. I don't care what rivals say.

City deserve a massive punishment but fans are going too far when they start saying De Bruyne's career is tarnished. City's cheating didn't make De Bruyne a top player. Look at Madrid and Chelsea, buying big players doesn't guarantee success but they deserve a big punishment.

  7. Rodon and James out, Wilson & Bahoya back soon - injury newspublished at 14:51 BST

Arsenal v Leeds United (Sat, 12:30 BST)

    Leeds United

Leeds United boss Daniel Farke has confirmed that defender Joe Rodon is on his way back from injury after individual training sessions but will be unavailable for Saturday's match against Arsenal. Fellow Welshman Daniel James will also be out of Saturday's game after sustaining a back injury during the international break.

Jean-Matteo Bahoya returned from the France camp with an ankle strain, but "looks way better" and will be monitored before the weekend.

Lampard, Farke and Rose spoke well. They have been very diplomatic on the issue and that is what you will expect coaches who could fall prey to some of these breaches in future to say. They would rather learn subtly from City's financial case than celebrate their punishment or downfall.

I think that Man City have to be held guilty for their behaviour towards football in general. I think the way they have behaved is a disgrace and they have to take whatever punishment they receive from the Premier League with remorse. I personally think they should be relegated.

  11. Coventry team newspublished at 14:33 BST

Coventry City v Newcastle (Mon, 20:00 BST)

    Coventry City

Coventry City boss Frank Lampard on team news: "Yes, they are [ready to play]."

On players who had existing injuries: "Milan van Ewijk is back training with us, that is good news. We hope he will be right if he comes through the next few days. Kaine Kesler-Hayden is back training with us, which is good, he has been out for longer. Josh isn't back yet and he has had a baby recently, which is good news for him but it will still be a few more weeks potentially. Hadji and Wolfie are a little bit longer as well but working hard and getting there."

They have been found guilty pending appeal after appeal. Time to take the sword to the guilty. Fans are moving away from football due to costs and now a cheat.

  13. What will City argue in appeal?published at 14:26 BST

Manchester City will claim as part of their appeal that key sponsorship deals were funded by the Abu Dhabi government, rather than the club's owners.

Owners Abu Dhabi United Group (ADUG) - a private investment company belonging to United Arab Emirates vice-president and deputy prime minister Sheikh Mansour - are said to have topped up the value of commercial deals as part of a "disguised funding scheme" to the scale of £830.69m.

This, it was argued, enabled the club to appear to comply with Premier League and Uefa financial rules.

Premier League rules allow state-owned bodies to sponsor clubs.

  14. 'It’s positive to have different kind of players'published at 14:23 BST

    Sunderland v Brighton (15:00 BST)

    Sunderland

Sunderland manager Regis le Bris, on the striker situation while Brian Brobbey's out: “I’m happy – we set a clear picture of this position with three strikers.

"I think Brian is in a really good place and he’s started the season really well. A small injury not a problem, but it’s true we’d like to have him fit. We have Wilson [Isidor] who is a really good striker with a different style of play but really competitive for the Premier League and showed his qualities last season.

“He’s a bit different and I think it’s positive to have different kind of players. He likes exploiting the places in behind, he’s quick and a good finisher as well. He’s really well connected with the club and the squad as well and that’s a positive.”

  15. 'No comment on external topics'published at 14:21 BST

    Sunderland

Granit Xhaka has reportedly received a suspended monetary fine after the midfielder was under investigation by Swiss prosecutors over allegations he had obtained a forged Covid-19 vaccination certificate in 2022.

When asked whether he is pleased Xhaka won’t be going to jail, Regis le Bris said: “Absolutely, it’s much better. No comment on external topics but what I’ve seen during the international break he has trained really well. It’s positive, he’s in a good place football-wise and for me is the most important."

  16. 'Not inside the story', 'More qualified people' - what managers have said on Man City so farpublished at 14:18 BST

We did wonder exactly what the Premier League managers would say. On the whole, they're not passing much judgement. Here's what they've said so far.

    • Coventry manager Frank Lampard: "What can you say when an appeal is going on? I'm not inside the story. They are a huge football club now, a huge squad of quality players, so we will see."
    • Leeds boss Daniel Farke: "It makes no sense if right now everyone wants to have an opinion about this topic. There are more qualified people to talk about this. It's nothing to do with me, I was not involved in the title race during those years."
    • Bournemouth manager Marco Rose: "I trust in the guys who are involved in these kinds of things and situations and then we will see what happens. I'm a football coach not a politician and I love to be a football coach and it should stay like this."

We've still got the thoughts of Regis le Bris and Matthias Jaissle to come.

  17. 'I trust in the guys who are involved in these kind of things'published at 14:15 BST

Chelsea v Bournemouth (Sat, 15:00 BST)

    Bournemouth

Bournemouth boss Marco Rose was asked about the guilty verdicts handed to Manchester City: "I played many times against Manchester City in the Champions League with my former clubs and for me it was always the best thing to challenge with the best players and the best clubs in the world. That's what I felt.

"I'm not this kind of guy who blames someone with not enough information. Of course, I hear everything, I read everything, but I do not have all the information.

"I trust in the guys who are involved in these kinds of things and situations and then we will see what happens. I'm a football coach not a politician and I love to be a football coach and it should stay like this."

  18. City's first game since guilty verdictpublished at 14:12 BST

    Manchester City

Manchester City will face Liverpool in the Premier League after an extended international break.

It is the club's first game since they were found guilty of the majority of the 115 Premier League charges.

The match will take place at Anfield on Sunday, 11 October at 16:30 BST.

Manager Enzo Maresca will be speaking to the media in his news conference on Friday.

  19. City arranged 'sham contracts'published at 14:08 BST

The Premier League issued a scathing statement after Man City were found guilty of 114 charges.

City arranged "sham contracts" with a number of commercial partners as part of a scheme to disguise secret funding of more than £830m, the Premier League says.

The League confirmed that City have been found guilty of all charges related to breaches of Premier League financial rules between the 2009-10 and 2017-18 seasons.

An independent commission found that, during that time period, the club arranged the "sham contracts" as well as "relying on sham agreements to artificially inflate the club's revenues and reduce its costs".
