Crawley Town staying up! That one's for you dad.

    Jamie, Crawley

Massive congrats to Cambridge who deservedly go up for doing their job. We bottled it big time at Crawley and can already see more play-off heartache ahead. No doubt Robinson will bluster on about being proud. Appalling finishing cost us today and we don't deserve to go up.

Who saw THIS coming at the start of the season?

In just their second season in the EFL, Bromley and Andy Woodman have stunned everyone and secured promotion to League One. What's more, they've done it as champions.

An incredible 21-game unbeaten streak across the end of 2025 and the start of 2026 helped seal promotion, and the cherry was put on the cake to secure the title with a 3-1 win over Walsall this afternoon.

Away trips to Sheffield Wednesday and Leicester City await next season, surely one of the more incredible EFL stories of recent times.

A six year stay in the EFL is over. The players very emotional on the pitch. For 46 minutes the great escape was on.

But then things changed; Newport fought back and the atmosphere went flat. It's back down to the National League for Harrogate.

There was asbolute delerium at the final whistle. Newport County stay in the EFL with this final day victory - which sends Barrow back to the National League.

What a job Christian Fuchs has done - 10 years to the day that he celebrated becoming a Premier League champion with Leicester City. Misery for Barrow.

  8. 'Pandemonium' as Cambridge celebrate promotionpublished at 17:46 BST 2 May

It wasn't pretty; it was tense; it was nervous. But 2,500 Cambridge fans left the stand and were on the pitch. There was pandemonium here.

Well done to Neil Harris and co - they are promoted to League One.

Knew it was coming. Doesn't make it hurt any less. Farewell, League One, We'll be back some day.

    Jack, Exeter

Matt Taylor, now please leave. I know the table doesn't lie after 46 games but Exeter should never have let him back. Great player, very poor manager. Yes, 2022 we nwent up but he didn't really want to because of his negativity. Regroup now, League Two again.

I would have taken survival at the start of the season but here we are in the play-offs, by a matter of inches. 21 years of being a Stevenage fan and this moment is right up there!

It will be Stockport against Stevenage and Bradford v Bolton in the League One play-offs.

Exeter's relegation is confirmed after defeat by the Bantams.

Stevenage pipped Plymouth to sixth spot with a 91st-minute winner against Wigan after Argyle had come from 2-0 down to win 3-2 at Northampton.

  13. 'Results earlier in the season have cost Luton'published at 17:36 BST 2 May

    FT: Bolton 2-3 Luton

    Jonathan Smith
Former Luton midfielder on BBC Radio Three Counties

I'm feeling and I'm sure this Luton side will be feeling pretty downbeat after that.

Luton put in a great performance to come here today, and pick up a win against a highly motivated Bolton team.

They had done their jobs and got the win, having put their bodies on the line. Luton had physically gone through the wars to get this result today, and to come away one point adrift is heartbreaking.

It was results earlier in the season that have cost them, not today as they have been fantastic.

  14. So close, and yet so far for Plymouthpublished at 17:34 BST 2 May

    Northampton 2-3 Plymouth

    Adam Whitty
BBC Final Score at Sixfields Stadium

With 89 minutes on the clock here at Sixfields, Plymouth had gatecrashed the League One play-off party, wearing a Devonian tuxedo and swigging some cider.

But late goals from Stevenage and Luton popped their balloon, and meant they came so close, and yet so far. They had come from 2-0 down to lead, it felt like their day.

A run of one defeat in 12 outings that took them from 16th in February to, briefly, the play-off spots and threatened the most remarkable of finishes, came too little too late.

But Plymouth fans will have hope of better days next season under Tom Cleverley. Northampton, meanwhile, will be desperate to say goodbye to a miserable campaign.

They finished with 12 straight defeats.

  15. 'Bradford did what they needed to do'published at 17:32 BST 2 May

    FT: Exeter 1-2 Bradford

    Mark Bower
Former Bradford City defender on BBC Radio Leeds

It felt as if Bradford were in control the entire game, with the experience they have got in the team.

Bradford did what they needed to do, and they gave me a sense of real assurance early on in the game. I knew from the start that Exeter weren't going to cause too many problems, and it was a professional performance.

Everyone behind the scenes - the fans, players deserve it, and will take this positivity into the play-offs I'm sure.

Let's take a look at the results elsewhere in League One on this final day:

League One champions Lincoln will take a 29-game unbeaten run into next season following a comfortable 2-0 win at relegated Port Vale.

It's been a memorable day for Doncaster striker Billy Sharp who scored a hat-trick in his final game for the club after a 3-1 win over Peterborough.

It was some game at Field Mill with it ending Mansfield 5-4 Cardiff.

Huddersfield thrash AFC Wimbledon 4-0 with Alfie May grabbing a brace.

Micah Olabiyi's injury-time winner saw Wycombe snatch a 3-2 win over Rotherham.

And Blackpool end their season with a 1-0 win at Reading.

  17. League Two full-time headlinespublished at 17:28 BST 2 May

Bromley's 3-1 win over Walsall sees Andy Woodman's side finish top of League Two.

MK Dons' 1-1 draw at Fleetwood means they finish second.

Oldham saw off Accrington after a 3-0 win to end their season with a win and subsequently ending a four-game losing streak.

Colchester thrashed Cheltenham 4-1 to also end their season with a win after back-to-back defeats.

And Garath McCleary's goal in added time saw Gillingham snatch a 1-0 win over Shrewsbury at Priestfield.

  18. 'Point enough to keep Crawley up'published at 17:21 BST 2 May

    FT: Crawley 0-0 Salford

    Andy Stevenson
BBC Final Score at the Broadfield Stadium

What a goalless draw. Crawley are staying in the Football League, but Salford have to make do with a play-off spot.

This point is enough to extend Crawley's 15-year stay in the Football League. Colin Kazim-Richards pulling off the escape in just seven games in charge.

  19. 'Players swallowed by pitch invasion'published at 17:17 BST 2 May

    FT: Tranmere 1-1 Grimsby

    Sam Fletcher
BBC Final Score commentator at Prenton Park

A draw will do for Tranmere who will remain in the Football League. At the final whistle the players on the pitch were swallowed by a football invasion. Tranmere survive!

  20. Postpublished at 17:11 BST 2 May

    FT: Barrow 1-2 Newport

Jubilant scenes in one corner of Holker Street, as Newport staff and players take the applause of their travelling fans.

They won consecutive league matches just once all season, and they did it in the final seven days of the season. Remarkable.

Ten years on from his miracle Premier League title win with Leicester, Christian Fuchs has been at the heart of another dramatic campaign.
