 | Walney Channel |
The project aims to hear the voices of a specific community and enlist the support of community partners in delivering projects of benefit and lasting value to that community. The 'Voices' we will be hearing on BBC Radio Cumbria and online will have one thing in common - the people all live on Walney Island. We'll hear from a variety of Voices - the young, the elderly, those who have lived on the island all their lives and the newcomers. | The seashore at Walney |
BBC Radio Cumbria believes everyone has a story to tell -whether it is a news item which needs to be debated on air, the ideas of the young as they plan out their future, or the reminiscences of the elderly who have seen many changes over the years - we will hear the Voices of them all. As well as bringing stories to our airwaves, the BBC Radio Cumbria team will be working with the residents of Walney Island to give help, advice and publicity to a community project of their choice. Over the coming weeks our staff will be meeting the people on the Island and discussing ways in which to help them. Our involvement with the project will be covered both on air and online.
