English powerlifter Matthew Harding won Commonwealth Games silver in the heavyweight category with a points total of 131.
The former Paralympic swimmer failed in his final attempt to lift 202kg but his successful 199kg lift in the second round was enough to secure the silver.
Riluwan Idris got the gold for Nigeria, while Jhandu Kumar of India earned the bronze.
It rounds out a successful day in powerlifting for England athletes, who also earned a gold through Mark Swan and a bronze for Olivia Broome in the lightweight category.
However, Louise Sugden missed out after coming fourth in a record-breaking heavyweight women's event.
Nigeria's Folashade Oluwafemiayo set a world record twice, lifting 172kg and then 175kg on her way to gold.
The heavyweight category, designated for athletes with a body weight over 72kg for men and over 61kg for women, is decided by a formula to rank lifts fairly against the athletes' body weight.
