England's Broome earns powerlifting bronze

England's Olivia Broome claimed a bronze powerlifting medal in the lightweight category with a points total of 106.6.

The 25-year-old completed a lift of 119kg to secure a place on the podium, adding to the silver medal she took at the 2022 Commonwealth Games.

Broome also took bronze in the 2020 and 2024 Paralympics.

Esther Nworgu and Esther Oyema earned gold and silver for Nigeria, with points totals of 119 and 115.5 respectively.

England team-mate Charlotte McGuinness came fifth with a lift of 110kg, leaving her with a points total of 96.9.

The lightweight category, designated for athletes with a body weight up to and including 61kg, is decided by a coefficient formula to rank lifts fairly against the athletes' body weight.

Broome's bronze is England's second medal at the 2026 Games following Mark Swan's gold in the men's event.
