Svitolina looks so business-like now. Strutting around the court full of confidence.

A big fist pump towards her box as we go level at one set apiece.

  2. Game and second set - Svitolinapublished at 14:19 BST

    Svitolina 3-6 6-1 0-0 Bondar*

Anna Bondar wins the first two points but is quickly reeled back in by Elina Svitolina, who has re-found her form.

The Rome champion is well and truly back in it now and she's going to take some stopping. The momentum is on her side again and Bondar is going to have to come up with something special to knock the seventh seed out.

  3. De Jong closing in on third setpublished at 14:18 BST

    *Wawrinka 3-6 6-3 2-5 De Jong

Jesper de Jong is doing a great job of blocking out the noise as the crowd continue to get right behind Stan Wawrinka.

The Dutchman holds to love to move a game away from the third set.

  4. Svitolina serving to level matchpublished at 14:15 BST

    *Svitolina 3-6 5-1 Bondar

That's more like it from Elina Svitolina.

She lets out a massive roar after sending a huge forehand winner down the line to go a double break up against Anna Bondar, who is starting to get frustrated.

  5. Wawrinka holds servepublished at 14:14 BST

    Wawrinka 3-6 6-3 2-4 De Jong*

With temperatures climbing up into the mid-30s today, these are challenging conditions for the players, who need to find ways to manage their efforts in the intense heat.

The sweat is trickling down Stan Wawrinka's head but he is doing well to hold position in the court, and he lets out a roar as he forces an error from Jesper de Jong's racquet.

The crowd let out huge cheers and begin chanting his name after the Swiss holds to stay within one break of serve in the third set.

  6. 'A post-Rome hangover'published at 14:09 BST

    Svitolina 3-6 4-1 Bondar*

It's a little bit of an off-day for Elina Svitolina today. You can tell there's a hangover from coming into this after winning such a big title in Rome.

I think she looks weary and the expression on her face is worried. She is not enjoying this contest.

  7. De Jong holds servepublished at 14:08 BST

    *Wawrinka 3-6 6-3 1-4 De Jong

An excellent sliced drop shot by Jesper de Jong, who leaps up into his shot before guiding the ball over, helps the Dutchman on his way to a hold of serve to love.

That's a commanding 4-1 lead for De Jong in the third set. Is that enough to move it out of Wawrinka's reach?

  8. Svitolina saves five break points to holdpublished at 14:08 BST

    Svitolina 3-6 4-1 Bondar*

After losing the first set 6-3, things seem to be looking up for Elina Svitolina.

She broke early in the second set and she's just saved five break points to stop Anna Bondar closing the gap.

Svitolina is the seventh seed and won the Italian Open earlier this month, so defeat by Bondar - ranked 57th - in the first round would be a huge upset.

A long way to go for the Ukrainian.

  9. Wawrinka broken againpublished at 14:03 BST

    Wawrinka 3-6 6-3 1-3 De Jong*

It's proving to be a real ding-dong between Stan Wawrinka and Jesper de Jong.

We have a third successive break of serve in this third set, as De Jong overpowers Wawrinka with a backhand deep into the court to restore his two-game advantage.

    Erjavec 2-6 2-6 Rybakina

    Annabel Croft

Rybakina is always going to be dangerous because she's a Grand Slam champion so people are going to respect her but I think they think they'll have a chance with her on the clay courts.

She did look at times a bit vulnerable today, even though it is harsh when she's won by a fairly straight-forward scoreline, but there were a few misses and it wasn't her most solid.

But again it's a first round match and she's done best to get through it and I'm sure she'll be happy.

  11. 'Guys, keep on drinking water'published at 13:59 BST

    Erjavec 2-6 2-6 Rybakina

Elena Rybakina speaking after her first-round win over Viktoria Erjavec: "I'm really happy with the win. There are other things to improve. It's really hot today so guys, keep on drinking water.

"It's tough conditions but I'm happy something has worked and I am looking forward to next match."

More on the conditions: "The conditions become really fast, it's not easy to control the ball or get an angle because it is flying and there are mistakes. I'm looking forward to the next match and hopefully I will play even better."

On how she changes her approach for clay: "The footwork should be really good on clay and of course the patience because the rallies are longer, sometimes feel you can hit ball but sometimes you need to hit the extra ball.

On whether she will be sightseeing in Paris: "It is such a beautiful city. During little moments I don't walk so much especially when it is hot but I will enjoy this evening definitely."

  12. Wawrinka breaks backpublished at 13:58 BST

    *Wawrinka 3-6 6-3 1-2 De Jong

The crowd are very much behind veteran Stan Wawrinka, and he's responding to the love he's receiving.

The Swiss produces an immediate response to Jesper de Jong's break in the third set, firing back to bring us back on serve.

He certainly won't be sent home from his final French Open without a proper fight.

  13. 'Wawrinka looking pretty good'published at 13:55 BST

    Wawrinka 3-6 6-3 0-2 De Jong*

    Annabel Croft
Former British number one on BBC Radio 5 Live

I've been keeping an eye on Wawrinka physically and at the moment, I think he looks pretty good.

Surprisingly good, actually. The forehand is still doing the damage and he doesn't seem fazed by it [the heat].

  14. Wawrinka broken in third setpublished at 13:54 BST

    Wawrinka 3-6 6-3 0-2 De Jong*

Stan Wawrinka worked hard to level up this match, but he's immediately on the back foot in the third set.

Jesper de Jong strikes early with a break in Wawrinka's opening service game - having withstood a break point in his own game moments ago.

It's a real tussle over on court Simonne-Mathieu.

  15. game, set and match

Game, set and match - Rybakinapublished at 13:52 BST

    Erjavec 2-6 2-6 Rybakina

Job done for Elena Rybakina. A calm, clinical performance for the second seed.

As usual, there's little fanfare from the Kazakh - not even a fist pump.

Ukraine's Yulia Starodubtseva awaits in the second round.

  16. Postpublished at 13:49 BST

    Erjavec 2-6 2-5 Rybakina*

    Annabel Croft
Former British number one on BBC Radio 5 Live

As this match has unfolded it's become a little bit more straightforward for Rybakina.

It looked a little bit edgy in the first few games but Rybakina didn't panic, took it right into her cusp and is right on the edge of going into the second round.

  17. Erjavec holds servepublished at 13:48 BST

    Erjavec 2-6 2-5 Rybakina*

Veronika Erjavec just hasn't been able to get a proper foothold in this match and it doesn't like she'll be able to hold off the inevitable for much longer.

After opening up a 40-30 lead, the net cord works in Rybakina's favour to take things to deuce. There's a bit of back and forth, but eventually Erjavec - after saving a break point - gets through another hold.

Rybakina will serve for the match.

  18. Spanish teen Jodar wins in straight setspublished at 13:44 BST

    Jodar 6-1 6-0 6-4 Kovacevic

That is some introduction from Rafael Jodar!

There's no shortage of excitement surrounding the Spanish 19-year-old, and he begins his maiden French Open campaign by blowing away Aleksandar Kovacevic in 94 minutes.

It's Australia's James Duckworth next for him.

  19. Rybakina holdspublished at 13:41 BST

    *Erjavec 2-6 1-5 Rybakina

Too good. Elena Rybakina takes control from the baseline before making her way to the net and sending down a lovely cross-court volley.

A long return from Veronika Erjavec means the Kazakh is just one game away from the second round.

  20. Game and second set - Wawrinkapublished at 13:40 BST

    Wawrinka 3-6 6-3 0-0 De Jong*

Stan the man is rising to the occasion!

Wawrinka wraps up the second set to level the contest, but only after missing his first set point and then having to resist a break point.

But he is sticking with Jesper de Jong - who is 16 years his junior - in tough conditions under the blazing sun on Court Simonne-Mathieu.
