Wales will face France, Ireland and Italy in a Women's Under-21 Six Nations Summer Series in a format aimed at preparing players for the senior tournament.

A 32-player squad has been named by Wales coach Liza Burgess, drawing heavily on players from Celtic Challenge teams Brython Thunder and Gwalia Lightning.

Wales will host France U21s at Cardiff Arms Park after the senior teams meet in the Women's Six Nations on Saturday, 18 April there.

Burgess' side will take on Italy's aspiring talent in Piacenza on Saturday, 2 May before welcoming Ireland to Ystrad Mynach eight days later.

A Welsh Rugby Union (WRU) statement read: "Evolving the Summer Series format, where all teams would compete in a week-long festival format, in 2026 and 2027 teams will now take part in two home fixtures and one away, or vice versa.

"The format change, external is designed to echo the training week and travel element of the elite tournament, to better prepare players for the rhythm of the Women's Six Nations."

Burgess said: "The draw is brilliant for us," she said, "We've got our first game at Cardiff Arms Park which will be an historic occasion – playing after the women for the first time."
