    Wigan Warriors

Wigan Warriors half-back and Lance Todd Trophy winner Jack Farrimond speaking on BBC One:

"It's still not sunk in yet and I don't think it will for a couple of weeks.

"It's a massive occasion, the fans and all my family that have come out, it's my brother's birthday tomorrow as well so I definitely think that's made him happy. It's just a great occasion and I'm just proud to be a part of it.

"It's always your aspiration at the start of the season to be playing in these big games and luckily for me it's come for me. I've had a run of games now and I've managed to put my best foot forward and it's even better having Bevan [French] coming off the bench as well. It's definitely something didn't think I'd be a part of and I'm just buzzing."

Wigan boss Matt Peet told BBC One:

"Very pleased, games like this you'd take a one point win, so to win in that manner - I'm very, very proud.

"The lads have worked hard for it, a couple of soft tries we've conceded, but I'll get over it. Very, very proud of the club."

On Bevan French: "I wasn't going to put Bev on, I asked him 'are you bothered' and his reaction was that he was a bit miffed off."

(NB: He might not have said 'miffed'...)

  3. 'We've got to win together and lose together'published at 17:34 BST

    FT: Wigan 40-10 Hull KR

    Hull KR

Hull KR captain Elliot Minchella speaking on BBC One:

"First of all congratulations to Wigan, they were awesome today, the better team won.

"We've got to win together and lose together Whilst I'm disappointed, we'll stick together after this. We're grateful to our fans for supporting us, but the best team won on the day.

"In the first five or 10 minutes of the second half we pressed the self-destruct button. We started off pretty good and then we give a penalty away and they score on the back of it and I don't think we really got back into the game after that. So lots to learn."

Fantastic win against a class side. Ruthless defence and they gave the ball some air. They wanted it so much.

"It was very warm conditions also we've been building all pre-season and to put on a performance like that at Wembley means everything.

"We had a bit of poor form and then we started to pick up with some good wins against top opposition as well which builds a lot of confidence and then coming into this on the big stage it's paid off."

Wigan Warriors centre Adam Keighran speaking on BBC One:

"I can't put it into words at the moment because this is something I've been looking forward to for two years now since I missed out on that game in 2024.

"I said at the start of the year that this is something that I wanted to win and I've done it, so I'll enjoy this moment for a long time now and just embrace this moment.

"We spoke at half-time, if we stick to what we're doing if we don't make any errors and keep them in their end and we'll get the result and that's what happened. We dug deep, we didn't do anything out of the ordinary until it was on and it paid off in the end.

"I'm so happy with the result."

Wigan lift the trophy - and what a magnificent piece of silverware the Challenge Cup is.

Wigan fan here - both Walters and Nsemba should have seen red there and both deserve a lengthy ban. Disgusting challenge and completely unnecessary at any stage of a game of rugby, let alone when you're three minutes from the end with a comfortable lead.

    Jonny, Ulverston

Shocking tackle - Nsemba endangered Leyland further. Reckless and should be retrospectively banned.

  9. 'They wanted it more' - Peterspublished at 17:17 BST

    FT: Wigan 40-10 Hull KR

    Hull KR

Hull KR boss Willie Peters told BBC One after the full-time whistle:

"Wigan were outstanding, we weren't today. They wanted it more and they deserved the win.

"I thought we were a bit flat all the way through the first half. I thought they had more energy than us. Wigan were very good today.

"We need to look internally - I need to look at myself as well. If we look internally, we can fix things."

What a tremendous performance from the Wigan Warriors.

There was one or two blemishes with the sending off there, but my word, over the 80 minutes it was absolute quality.

Wigan Warriors have regained the Challenge Cup!

They have totally outplayed and out-muscled Hull KR with an awesome performance in the early summer sunshine at Wembley.

The Warriors ran in seven tries over the course of the 80 minutes with Jack Farrimond, who grabbed the first two tries, starring as Bevan French continues to find his feet following injury.

Talking of French, his superb cameo in the final 20 minutes saw him score one and help set up another for the Warriors in an immediate return to form.

Hull KR scored two tries of their own - both via Peta Hiku - but they were second best today.

It wasn't quite the perfect day for Wigan though in the end as in the final moments of the game Sam Walters was shown a red card for a dangerous tackle on Bill Leyland.

  15. 'I think that will be looked at again'published at 17:05 BST

I think that will be looked at in more detail by the match review because I felt Sam Walters tried to pull out in all honesty.

  17. RED CARDpublished at 79 mins

    Wigan 40-10 Hull KR

How needless was that - with 90 seconds remaining and 30 points ahead, Sam Walters is shown a red card for Wigan.

Walters and Junior Nsemba are both involved on a tackle on Bill Leyland - who has history against Wigan this season - and Leyland ends up head first on the turf.

More action will be taken after the match, I'm sure about that.
