Sportscene is still going if you want to catch the remainder of tonight's highlights via the tab at the top of the page.

We'll be back at the weekend with the Premier Sports Cup semi-finals, with Rangers and Aberdeen meeting on Saturday and an Edinburgh derby at Hampden on Sunday.

There are some top flight fixtures too.

On Saturday, Kilmarnock, now bottom of the pile, host St Johnstone and Motherwell take on St Mirren at Fir Park. The following day, Celtic visit Falkirk.

  2. Vrancken hails fighting spirit of depleted Heartspublished at 23:06 GMT 28 October

    FT: Hearts 2-2 Rangers

Hearts head coach Wouter Vrancken tells BBC Scotland: "We've lost two points. We deserved to win. We played a really good first half, made a little mistake and it cost us.

"After that we made up for it with the performance. For me it was never a foul [in the lead-up to the Rangers equaliser]. I don't know why he blows the whistle.

"This team keeps believing, when you see the situation we are in. We have extra games, one day less recovery, all those things matter. When you see them battle and fight for each other, that's the pleasure I have as a coach."

On Rogers Matos' first-half injury: "We don't know [the severity] yet. We have to wait for the scan."

And on that handshake with Derek McInnes: "I don't know, you have to ask him. For me, win, draw or lose, everybody works hard on the side and does the best they can, then you have to have a handshake at the end like good colleagues do."

  3. 'I thought he was thanking me for leaving him a strong team'published at 23:04 GMT 28 October

    FT: Hearts 2-2 Rangers

Rangers manager Derek McInnes tells BBC Scotland: "[Hearts] need to defend the set-play at the end if they are going to get their victory and we've obviously taken advantage.

"Hearts had two or three top performers tonight. We scored a brilliant goal but didn't do that enough. It was two teams playing very direct. [Josh] McPake and [Calvin] Miller were very strong.

"I thought we were fortunate to go in 1-0 up at half-time. I don't think any team really grabbed the game and controlled the game, but I think Hearts had more opportunities to play in our half. It was a very topsy-turvy game. When we did get a chance to transition on them, we never quite looked after the ball well enough.

"Disappointed that from a winning position we never kicked on from that. The last chance at the death we should score. Findlay Curtis, what a cross he's put in... It was begging to be eaten up and it's a bit strange how its not gone into the back of the net.

"The top end of my side, they're very young and sometimes they need to come through these types of games and atmospheres, but we have to say we didn't play to our level, but the spirit and resilience to keep going...

"We could've gone on to win it, that would've been unfair on Hearts but we would've obviously taken that."

On his reception, McInnes added: "It was exactly what I thought, it's football, it's Scottish football. Hopefully history can be kind."

And on the tense handshake with Wouter Vrancken: "I actually don't know [what happened]. Maybe just got caught up in the heat of the moment. I thought he was going to thank me for leaving him such a strong squad. He's very lucky to inherit such a strong squad of players."

    FT: Hearts 2-2 Rangers

There was something of an unusual post-match handshake between Wouter Vrancken and Derek McInnes at Tynecastle, but both managers have made light of it.

It was all a bit intense as the Hearts boss appeared to lean into his opposite number and held on for a prolonged grip.

  5. Postpublished at 22:54 GMT 28 October

    FT: Celtic 2-2 Dundee United

United may have dropped a place to fifth in the table, but they gave Celtic a real fright in that first half, going toe-to-toe with the champions, and are now unbeaten in their past six outings.

  6. 'Air of disappointment' - Goodwinpublished at 22:52 GMT 28 October

    FT: Celtic 2-2 Dundee United

Dundee United manager Jim Goodwin is satisfied with point at Celtic Park despite being disappointed not to hold on to their 2-1 lead.

"I think I've got to be pleased with the overall performance," he tells BBC Scotland.

"Of course there is an air of disappointment in the dressing room that we weren't able to hang on and take all three points.

"It would have been a historic victory had we done that, but credit to the opposition, their changes at half time brought a real spark to their team.

"They made us suffer for large periods in that second 45 minutes, but we did have two or three breakaway chances that we are maybe disappointed we didn't do better with.

"But I can't have too many complaints about the end result.

"It is still early days, but it is something to build on after these 11 games being in a decent position in the league table and a relatively positive points return.

"To respond to the early goal shows great character and we had to dig deep in the last 20 minutes - Celtic are relentless."

  7. 'St Johnstone never gave up'published at 22:49 GMT 28 October

    FT: St Johnstone 2-2 Motherwell

St Johnstone manager Simo Valakari: "First of all, I have to say I think it was a very good football match. There were two good footballing teams who tried to play with the ball, so I enjoyed that part of the game.

"Our late goal is so important, we’ve been talking about the small margins in this league. It’s important if you are losing that you stay in the game and you will get your chance. I think we deserved that point.

"I think it tells me more about the character and personality of our players and how they want to push, they want to compete and they never gave up today."

  8. Robinson rues missed chancespublished at 22:46 GMT 28 October

    FT: Aberdeen 0-1 Falkirk

Aberdeen head coach Stephen Robinson tell BBC Scotland: "Really disappointed, night and day from our performance on Saturday and ultimately we got what we deserved.

"Four chances that we have to score, they're not hard chances and we have to put them in the back of the net. That would breed confidence and people relax. But we didn't do that.

"I'm not going to pinpoint individuals, as a collective it wasn't good enough and we have to hold our hands up. It's raw at the moment, there won't be a lot of sleep.

"It should have been better [this season]. Last week we thought we were making progress, but we took two steps backwards tonight."

I’ll take a point at Tynecastle! Looking at the top six, Rangers played every other team away. Next set of fixtures could be interesting.

    Colin

Jammy, jammy Rangers. Someone should compile a programme of last-minute goals that saves a point. It would last more than an hour.

    Jim

Harsh not to win that game, but given all the injuries Hearts have, an unlucky draw against the Old Firm while playing excellent football is a definite sign of the character and ability of this squad.

    FT: St Mirren 1-1 Hibernian

Hibs haven't won in the league since late August but at least Marink Reedijk is off the mark, even if it was an appalling game.

One shot on target must be a worry for the new boss, while Marko Ivezic couldn't really miss as the ball hit him almost on the goal-line.

  12. Reedijk hails 'good step' for Hibspublished at 22:36 GMT 28 October

    FT: St Mirren 1-1 Hibernian

Hibs head coach Marink Reedijk tells BBC Scotland: "I think we should have three points. There is a pride in how the guys fought for the club, for each other, for every metre on the pitch.

"It's unfortunate because I think we deserved more than just one point. However, we have to live with that. We saw improvements, we saw a team who pressed high, regained the ball high and on the ball we were composed and clinical. This is a good step, a point is a point and we continue to Sunday [League Cup semi-final against Hearts].

"We were very good but if you want to be very, very good you need to win the game. If you're so dominant, you need to win the match. If you keep on fighting and improving like this, that will change, I'm one thousand per cent sure of that."

  13. 'A point fair', says Buddies bosspublished at 22:34 GMT 28 October

    FT: St Mirren 1-1 Hibernian

St Mirren manager Craig McLeish tells BBC Scotland: "Positive that we came away with a point on a night where we probably haven't hit our levels in terms of performance.

"I thought defensively we looked solid. Probably not a game that looks exactly how we want it to be but you're going to have nights where you're not quite at it and we've still managed to come away with a point.

"The response to going a goal down was excellent and we probably had two or three clear cut chances after that to go and win the game, I think a point is fair for both sides."

  14. Celtic fail to make most of 'very strong second half'published at 22:32 GMT 28 October

    FT: Celtic 2-2 Dundee United

Celtic manager Martin O'Neill tells BBC Scotland he believes his side did enough to take all three points.

"I thought second half we were very, very strong - and yet maybe we could have conceded," he says. "We could have scored a couple of other goals.

"We fell asleep and conceded the goal, then another one. Half time allowed us to regroup and I thought the second half was very strong."

Asked if only six clean sheets in 24 games was a concern, O'Neill replies: "You are always going to look at goals you concede and think you can do better. Sometimes we just give the ball away in important positions.

"In saying that, [Haissem]Hassan has caused havoc in the second half and we should be getting on the end of one or two.

"I think we just have to move on and it's a big match against Falkirk on Sunday."

  15. Motherwell 'deserved more' - Johanssonpublished at 22:29 GMT 28 October

    FT: St Johnstone 2-2 Motherwell

Motherwell manager Alfred Johansson tells BBC Scotland: "It’s an extremely sore end to the game. Obviously, it’s very, very tough given the fact that I think we played quite a good game and probably should have scored more than two. To finish it off like that is very tough, it feels like the story of our performances recently.

"I think at some point this group of players are going to get rewarded. We just need to learn from this. In the first half we create chances that we don’t capitalise on and they score which at that time is difficult. It’s very, very painful at the end.

"I think we deserved more today but once again I’d say we need to grow up and learn how to deal with these situations."

  16. 'Not a classic' - McGlynnpublished at 22:24 GMT 28 October

    FT: Aberdeen 0-1 Falkirk

Falkirk manager John McGlynn tells BBC Scotland: "Delighted to win. Coming to Aberdeen isn't easy at any time. It wasn't a classic, we've played better and Stephen [Robinson] might say the same.

"Nothing in the game at all, we rode our luck at times in the second half. But our boys showed a great attitude, they worked exceptionally hard. Ben Krauhaus has taken the goal well.

"We've won three in a row, which is not easy in the Premiership. Delighted with that. It wasn't pleasing on the eye, we need to pass the ball better, but you take it over the course of a season.

"We had to battle and we fought, and we've got to give our players credit for that."

Hopefully Sportscene has a place on the couch ready for Neil McCann. Another game where we’ve conceded three. He has to go.

Sack Robinson now - was never the standard needed for a Dons manager

    Stuart

As Aberdeen fans we shouldn't, be surprised by what is happening, we should have seen the writing on the wall when we signed Kilmarnock players and whole lot of others who were in the bottom six or unwanted by other clubs. Is it any wonder we are close to the bottom of the league with 11 points out of a possible 33?

    Rob

Where do you go as an Aberdeen fan? It’s so easy to point the finger at the board but how can you when they have had an open cheque book for the last few managers. We vilified the best manager we ever had in McInnes, how dare we finish third and qualify for Europe!
