    Liverpool will not challenge for the title until Van Dijk and his easy-going attitude are gone from defence and captaincy. May get top six but too many gaps in defence which needed replacements rather than making do.

    Liverpool had the highest net spend in the Premier League over the summer window and internally there is a belief that they had a good window, which culminated in bringing in Bradley Barcola from Paris St-Germain for £123m.

    Andoni Iraola will speak for the first time since that deal was confirmed and he will be able to shed more light on Liverpool's business over the summer.

    In recent days, Liverpool rejected a bid for Cody Gakpo from Manchester City while Harvey Elliott has gone to Valencia on loan, but there is certainly a feeling among the fanbase that this squad perhaps needed more incomings.

    Andoni Iraola will be hoping to get off to a better start at Liverpool than he did with Bournemouth.

    His first campaign as Cherries manager started with a nightmare run of nine league games without a win.

    He managed just three draws and six defeats in those opening nine games.

    Patience paid off though, as the Spaniard led Bournemouth to a comfortable mid-table finish (12th) in his debut campaign in the Premier League.

    Things steadily improved from there, with an eighth-place finish in his second season and sixth place last season.

    Iraola knows that he will need to improve upon those numbers if he is to be considered a success at Liverpool, and he will not be granted as much time to get it right.

    But if he can turn the club around in a similar fashion then Liverpool will give him the platform to challenge for honours.

    Andoni Iraola has started his managerial career at Liverpool with back-to-back 2-2 draws in the Premier League - at Newcastle and at home to Nottingham Forest.

    Here's a niche stat for you - only one other team in Premier League history has ever started a season with consecutive 2-2 draws.

    That was Everton in the 2014-15 campaign, when Roberto Martinez's side twice conceded late equalisers against Leicester and then Arsenal.

    The Toffees went on to lose their third game of that season 6-3 at home to eventual champions Chelsea. Everton would go on to finish 11th.

    Liverpool boss Iraola will be keen not to finish on the wrong end of an nine-goal thriller at Ipswich on Friday, but can his side get their campaign up and running with a first win?

    For the record, the odds of a third 2-2 draw on the bounce currently stand at around 14-1...

    It's been an underwhelming start to the season for Andoni Iraola's new look Liverpool side, who sit 13th in the Premier League after the first couple of gameweeks.

    The Reds, who will travel to Ipswich on Friday, are still without a win two games into the season, scoring late equalisers to ensure points.
