Another crazy night in the Championship is at an end.

It was a good night to be a fan of the Blues as Birmingham and Portsmouth continued their impressive starts to the season with eye-catching wins over Millwall and Swansea but the gloom is deepening for Preston and Derby after shipping more goals in costly home defeats.

You can throw your cap over the top 10 after the draw between West Brom and Southampton and that's just how we want it with leaders Middlesbrough, Wolves and West Ham all taking the stage tomorrow night trying to strengthen their position in this already epic promotion scrap.

Now we had all best go and get some rest, we're going to do this all over again tomorrow night.

    See you then!

Birmingham City are up to second place in the Championship with their 3-0 win over Millwall.

Boss Chris Davies has been speaking to BBC Radio WM:

"Getting a margin in a game is wonderful as you can give yourself a cushion to work within.

"We were fluid, aggressive in the press, didn't give them time or give anything away.

"The league table at the moment is temporary but when I came in, the club had been relegated to League One so we've come a long way since then - we feel we deserve to be where we are but there's a long way to go."

Watford boss Alessio Dionisi speaking to BBC Three Counties Radio:

"It's a good night for everyone. For our supporters, because I am happy for them. I'm happy for my team. It is one match, but it will be important.

"With [the] ball in the first half it was difficult. But in the second half we found the goal.

"It's difficult for me to find other words than that I am happy for everyone, because it's important for our future and our next match because we play at home against a big team - and at this moment the best team in this league."

  5. We gifted them the goal - Jonespublished at 22:47 GMT 3 November

After seeing his side lose for the fourth straight game and remain winless in 11 matches since August, Charlton manager Nathan Jones told BBC Radio London:

“In terms of endeavour, in terms of work-rate, in terms of passing the football there was zero problem.

"We’ve had more possession, more touches in the opposition box, and so many opportunities in and around their box, but we’ve gifted them a goal - they haven’t had to work for it in any way.

“We had no problem all night and then gifted them a goal. Then we just didn’t demonstrate enough quality in the final third, with the amount of opportunities we’ve had to cross it, to put it in areas, corners and free kicks.

“It wasn’t any individual. We’ve probably made more positive substitutions tonight than is humanly possible, but we just didn’t demonstrate enough quality.

"We aren’t doing the out-of-possession stuff well enough because we are gifting goals.”

Southampton boss Tonda Eckert speaking to Sky Sports:

"I think we gave them too much respect in the first half for the quality they have on the ball and then changed at half-time and boys showed what they're about.

"I prefer to talk about the second half. We showed what we are about. We went a lot more aggressive and we had some chances at the end to win it, but the reality is that if you look at the 90 minutes and if you look at both halves, you take the point.

"Compliments to West Brom for for the first 45 minutes. We'll take the point and move on.

"I think the first-half showed the two days only between the games and the short prep.

"In the end it's about how many bodies you commit and the first line of the press.

"I should have probably not made them think so much but just go a little bit more aggressive.

"We corrected that at half-time and credit to the players to come back in the fashion that they did."

Sydie Peck's hat-trick helped Sheffield United to a 3-2 win at Preston to move the Blades up to ninth place in the Championship table.

Boss Chris Wilder has told BBC Radio Sheffield:

"Apart from the first two minutes and the last five I thought the team was outstanding.

"We created some good opportunities, controlled the game but just a bit disappointed after half time we didn't take the game away from the opposition.

"Sydie's all-round performance was excellent - he's a touch disappointed as he had two good chances in the second half. He'll get all the headlines and deservedly so.

"One day he'll hopefully captain this club - it was too early for him when I came back and I needed to make sure he got his head down and showed he's a good footballer and he was a good footballer tonight."

  9. It just didn't quite click tonight - Shawpublished at 22:40 GMT 3 November

Lincoln City joint head coach Tom Shaw speaking to BBC Radio Lincolnshire:

"I think we got in really good situations, just our quality wasn't at its best tonight. Some of our deliveries hit the first man too many times.

"We didn't have that spark around the goal, but that's fine. That's how it goes. Some nights it'll click, some days like [against] Burnley it will be beautiful. Some days not quite as good.

"I thought we got into good areas of the pitch, we were threatening up to around the penalty area but the moments in and around there it just didn't quite click tonight."

After seeing his side spurn a glut of chances in the 1-1 draw with Burnley, QPR boss Julien Stephan told BBC Radio London: "I am frustrated with the result but not the performance.

"I think we started very well. We had enough to score a minimum one or two times in the first 20-25 minutes. Then we concede from their first shot of the game.

"We had enough big chances to win today, that's why the frustration based on the result, but not the quality or the performance.

"I saw ambition today. It's probably the difference between the top teams able to be at the top of the table, in a game like this they are able to score three or four times and us today, we are good mid-table because of a lack of efficiency."

Norwich are up to 12th in the Championship table with their 4-0 win at Derby.

The Canaries head coach Philippe Clement has told BBC Radio Norfolk:

"The team did what we wanted to do tonight by being dominant on the ball and controlling the game with the ball.

"There is potential, we can still do things better and be more efficient.

"We try to play attacking football, we are not a team that only wants to defend but I am pleased with the clean sheet as I always want to play attacking football but out of a good structure.

"We want to entertain our fans and make them happy and we want more nights like this where they drive home with a lot of satisfaction because their joy we feel in the dressing room."

  12. A fair result - Morrisonpublished at 22:34 GMT 3 November

    FT: West Brom 1-1 Southampton

    West Bromwich Albion

West Brom boss James Morrison speaking to Sky Sports:

"I think it was a fair result. I think it was two very good teams going at it.

"We were so dominant in the first half, especially doing that to the opposition, I don't think anyone's done that to them and the lads can be proud of that performance.

"I just felt the energy of doing that again will be very difficult and it was all bout seeing the early parts of the second out and clinging on to a 1-0 and then spaces might have opened up.

"But credit to Southampton, they came back and showed their class."

After leaving it late to snatch a 3-1 win over Swansea and make it six games unbeaten, Portsmouth boss John Mousinho told BBC Radio Solent: "It was a massive win and a really important night for us.

"I think we were superb in the first half. Second half we started well and tired a little bit.

"I was disappointed with the way we conceded. I thought it was a really soft penalty.

"We had opportunities on the counter attack but to respond to the equaliser in the way we did was magnificent."

Stoke City are up to third in the Championship and only behind Birmingham in the automatic promotion spots on goal difference after a 2-1 win at Blackburn.

Potters boss Mark Robins told BBC Radio Stoke:

"Huge win and I think we made a meal of it to be fair. We didn't have comfortable possession of the ball.

"They go man for man all over the pitch and they try and put us off. You've got a situation where they've just lost away 4-0 and they've got to try and come back here and overturn that.

"They had energy. We had energy but we've just given the ball away too easily and you end up running further than when you keep possession.

"But even so, we managed to have enough of the ball to create bits and pieces. But it was only bits and pieces.

"We got away with it because we didn't do enough with the ball. We've got the talent in the squad to do so.

    "It's a hard-fought win and a brilliant one nonetheless."

On Jack McGlynn's excellent free-kick for the opener: "To execute something like that was absolutely phenomenal."

Norwich made it three wins in a row with a 4-0 hammering of Derby.

Anthony Musaba opened the scoring and has spoken to BBC Radio Norfolk:

"We got a clean sheet with loads of goals so it's a top performance.

"We've got so many players in the squad who have a good attacking threat so it's just about managing it well.

"We are in a good flow, we have Bristol City next so we focus on doing it again and to get to the international break with four wins in a row would be perfect."

Derby skipper Carlton Morris has been talking to BBC Radio Derby after their heavy defeat at home to Norwich:

"It's just unacceptable, it's not how we represent this great football club.

"I cannot stress enough how much it hurts and how much we want to put it right.

"There have been some honest conversations in there already but we need to go home, have a look at ourselves and see how we can affect games better.

"We need people to stand up and not shrink, it's too easy to go under, too easy to not want the ball and too easy to be scared to make a mistake.

"It was not a professional performance - the least you can expect is 110% effort and the quality to be brave and get on the ball which is part and parcel of the job.

"You need players to stand up and be counted - it's way too easy to hide - we need to stand up and take responsibility before it's too late."

That I’m disappointed that Albion haven’t won tonight shows what an incredible job James Morrison is doing at West Brom. We have a young, inexperienced and shallow squad. And yet he’s got us competing with much more affluent clubs - all of whom have deeper and more experienced squads.

West Brom midfielder Isaac Price speaking to Sky Sports:

"We created a lot of chances, we dominated in the first half but that's football - if you don't put your chances away, we knew they'd come out better the second half and we got punished."

On his penalty into the top corner: "The keeper told me I missed my last one to the left so I thought I'd put it to the right."

On setting high demands for themselves: "We've got a top group here. We've got people that want to achieve a lot and we've got the belief that we're good enough to do it.

"I think today in the first half we've shown our quality, but second half is not good enough."
