    This is Chelsea's season. Arguably the best front three in the league and they now have one of the world's best goalkeepers. I wouldn't be surprised if they took the title from Arsenal.

    Joao Pedro skipped past a few Brighton players and went down under a challenge which led to complaints from Fabian Hurzeler.

    New Chelsea manager Xabi Alonso then challenged his opposite number before his side scored their second through Pedro Neto.

    The Brighton staff were again up in arms about the goals and they continue to berate the officials as one of his assistants, Jonas Scheuermann, is booked.

    You get the feeling that only one goal might be needed to snatch all three points in this.

    The Seagulls feel they should have been awarded a free-kick before Pedro Neto's first Premier League goal since December 2025.

    Chelsea are purring, it's a wonderful goal.

    Pedro Neto is crashing in at the back post and pokes it into the back of the net.

    It's just brilliant play by Morgan Rogers, he breezes past Luka Vuskovic and that is a real welcome to the Premier League.

    There is an air of confidence about Chelsea.

    Cesar Palacios injects a bit of pace into it with a neat first touch away from his marker and his cross is turned behind for a corner.

    But Sunderland deal with it well.

    This is too easy for the Blues who sail into a commanding lead inside 15 minutes.

    A throw-in inside Brighton's half and Morgan Rogers sprints into the box before cutting it back into the path of Pedro Neto to score.

    Where is Brighton's defending? Non-existent.

    To be fair, Brighton have responded reasonably well to falling behind.

    They've forced a couple of corners but Emi Martinez has yet to make his first save in Chelsea's colours.

    Brentford have had the better start by far. Kevin Schade is hacked down by Joe Rodon in a Bees break. The ref says play on and Jaidon Anthony's shot is deflected wide for a corner.

    Rodon lucky not to be booked really - and the resulting corner comes to nothing.

    We've got a collective xG of 0.02 in this one so far.

    Chelsea have issues in midfield and have Malo Gusto filling in today.

    Of course, Enzo Fernandez is not available for selection amid a potential £100m+ move to Manchester City.

    Moises Caicedo is only fit enough for the bench, Reece James played two games already this week and Jordan Henderson remains injured from the World Cup.

    Valentin Barco could have potentially started but Gusto was picked instead.

    The stars seem to be aligning for Chelsea. Brighton missing key players having sold others and now a defensive howler gifting Chelsea a goal. No excuses today. Three points a must with the first proper test of Alonso's system to come next week.

    That Chelsea goal has been timed at three minutes and 41 seconds.

    They also struck early in their opening game at Fulham.

    Chelsea are only the third side ever to score in the opening five minutes of both of their first two Premier League games of a season, after Bolton Wanderers in 2002-03 and Leicester City in 2017-18.

    The corner comes in and Leeds head it away. But it goes back in and Nathan Collins' header is saved by James Trafford.

    Sunderland fans were delighted with a Europa League draw away at AC Milan a couple of days ago but all focus is on three points here.
