    Arda Guler (10 mins)

With their 63rd shot of this World Cup, Turkey have scored a goal!

Out of absolutely nothing Baris Yilmaz peels off the defenders to the right of the box, squares the ball into the path of Arda Guler, who takes a superb first touch and then fires the ball past Matt Turner.

    Paraguay 0-0 Australia

Australia earn the first corner of the match and it's no surprise that giant centre-back Harry Souttar is the target from it.

The Leicester man can't divert anything towards goal on this occasion but he is a real danger at set-pieces.

  3. Postpublished at 03:09 BST

    Turkey 0-1 USA

Auston Trusty's goal is the second fastest goal in the USA's history in the World Cup (02:13), after Clint Dempsey's strike against Ghana in 2014, which went in after 30 seconds.

It's been interesting to see how Paraguay will line up, I know they're quite fluid, I think they've gone with a back three or five to try to match up with Australia.

But at the moment they're giving the ball away too much.

It's lunchtime on the last Friday before mid-year school holidays and the whole of Australia is about to stop work to cheer on the Socceroos. It's a massive game.

Come on Australia, please do Scotland a favour by beating Paraguay by two goals!

    Con, Hove

Scotland fans will be keeping an eye on lots of these group finales after finishing third in their group.

A two-goal win or better for Australia would mean Paraguay have a worse record than Scotland, while a win by a four-goal margin or better for Paraguay would also be enough to help Steve Clarke's side.

    Turkey 0-1 USA

The US go forward in numbers again but Turkey manage to get a foot in.

What a noise at Los Angeles Stadium when that goal went in.

It's still early days in this World Cup, but this US side does feel different - both in the way they play and how they are galvanising their fans.

What a start by the tournament co-hosts!

They may already be through as group winners but they clearly want to go through in style.

The players have been fired up from the start and the fans are certainly fired up as “USA! USA!” is chanted all around the stadium.

    Paraguay 0-0 Australia

Australia have survived longer without conceding a goal against Paraguay than Turkey did.

Matias Galarza found the net in the second minute in that 1-0 win for the South American side.

    Auston Trusty (3 mins)

It's another fast start for the USA!

The corner comes in and this time Auston Trusty isn't messing about - the corner falls at his feet at the back post and the unmarked defender rifles the ball in at Ugurcan Çakir's near post.

How has that not gone in??

Weston McKennie is all alone at the near post but can't get his toe to a low corner that goes all the way through.

The ball pings around and Auston Trusty sees his effort saved.

Australia upset Turkey in World Cup opener

Australia have only made it out of the group stage twice in six previous World Cup appearances.

There was some criticism of Tony Popovic's team selection for the defeat by the United States, the Socceroos boss having elected to leave Nestory Irankunda and Connor Metcalfe - their two goalscorers in the win against Turkey - on the bench for that match.

Irankunda of Watford and Metcalfe of St Pauli are both in from the start against Paraguay.

Paraguay's Almiron sent off for covering mouth in confrontation

Paraguay are without former Newcastle winger Miguel Almiron for their crunch group match against Australia because of suspension.

Almiron became the first player to be sent off for covering his mouth while speaking to an opponent in a confrontational situation in the match against Turkey.

Paraguay held on to their 1-0 lead with 10 men for more than half of the match, meaning another win today will send them through to the knockout stage.

  16. Team news - Three changes for Paraguay, six for Socceroospublished at 02:48 BST

    Paraguay v Australia (03:00 BST)

    Paraguay XI

Gustavo Alfaro has made three changes from the Paraguay side which beat Turkey 1-0.

He also looks to have shifted formation in the absence of Miguel Almiron, suspended after his red card for covering his mouth last time out in San Francisco.

Gabriel Avalos will lead the line with Alexandro Maidana at left wing-back and Gustavo Velasquez in a three-man defence. Junior Alonso and Isidro Pitta drop to the bench, while Almiron is suspended.

Paraguay XI: Gill, Alderete, G Gomez, Velazquez, Maidana, Caceres, Enciso, Galarza, Cubas, D Gomez, Avalos.

Australia head coach Tony Popovic has made six changes from the XI which went down 2-0 against the USA in Seattle.

Aziz Behich, Lucas Herrington, Jackson Irvine, Nestory Irankunda, Connor Metcalfe and Cristian Volpato all start.

Mathew Leckie and Jacob Italiano miss out through injury while Cameron Burgess, Paul Okon-Engstler, Mohamed Toure and Nishan Velupillay are among the substitutes.

Australia XI: Beach, Herrington, Souttar, Circati, Bos, Irvine, O'Neill, Behich, Volpato, Metcalfe, Irankunda.

    Paraguay v Australia (03:00 BST)

It's essentially winner takes all in San Francisco as Australia face Paraguay to decide which nation will finish second in Group D.

Australia have the advantage of knowing a draw will send them through on goal difference.

Whichever team misses out on automatic qualification will have to wait to discover if they will go through as one of the best third-placed teams.

Vincenzo Montella speaks at a press conference

It is fair to say Turkey have disappointed at this World Cup, with two losses from two games meaning they will head home earlier than hoped.

Poor results always draw criticism but I attended the Turkey press conference yesterday where, before taking any questions, coach Vincenzo Montella embarked on a long and passionate defence of his players, speaking out against sections of the media and fans who had been negative about them.

"They are our boys, they are our players, they are the future of football and I've seen personal attacks I could not accept because this is something you're doing against your own son," Montella said through an interpreter.

"I cannot accept it. From my side they will have unconditional support because they deserve this support and I will be supporting them all the time."

Montella also stressed he would not resign despite Turkey’s early exit.

10-man Paraguay knock out Turkey despite Almiron red card

This World Cup has been, quite literally, a case of missed opportunities for already-eliminated Turkey.

They have had a total of 62 shots in their first two group matches but have failed to find the net.

Defeats by Australia and Paraguay mean they are unable to qualify for the knockout phase, regardless of today's result against the co-hosts.
