  1. 'Today was not good enough' - Hayenpublished at 14:21 BST

    Burnley

Burnley boss Nicky Hayen speaking to Sky Sports:

"First of all it was totally deserved. They had much more energy than us. They showed it on the pitch, in duels, in second balls.

"This was also something we said in the dressing room, that it cannot be possible that we play with this amount of energy. We played too slow, we were far away from the level last week. We said it in the dressing room - if we play at our best we're really a top team, but if you play like this then you're just an average team.

"We have to go back to everything we did last week because today it was not good enough."

Where to start? I didn't see any leadership. What is Burnley's USP? Glimpses of quality but let down by technical failings. I don't think the manager knows his starting 11 yet nor how to get the best out of who is available. A lot of work required.

  3. 'We're going to be resilient all season'published at 14:15 BST

    FT: West Brom 3-1 Burnley

    West Bromwich Albion

Harry Whitwell, who scored West Brom's goal to make it 1-1, said the Baggies performance showed their resilience after going behind to that early Burnley goal.

"It knocked us a bit when they scored early but that goal I scored settled us in the game," Whitwell told Sky Sports.

"After that we showed our quality, I think we were the better team for the game going on and we put ourselves in a really good position.

"It just shows what we're building as a team, we're going to be resilient all season.

"The Championship is a league which is relentless, we'll go behind plenty of games - obviously we'll try and keep that to a minimum - but if we do we know we've go the character to come through and get a result like we did today."

As a Claret, I don’t think we can win an argument let alone a football match. Very poor performance from the team...We need a striker and our captain back. No cohesion at all.

  5. 'Performance sums up how we've been recently'published at 14:08 BST

    FT: West Brom 3-1 Burnley

    West Bromwich Albion

West Bromwich Albion's Isaac Price, who scored twice against Burnley, speaking to Sky Sports:

"I think it sums up how we've been recently really. I think we finished last season pretty well but we know the season as a whole was really poor.

"And then we've come into this season fresh, we've got some new young players who look hungry and it's working for us at the moment."

On his first goal: "I've been due it. I've had a few chances, I should've scored in the first half and then when it fell there, I think they're the opportunities you want to take and luckily it went in."

On the penalty and a discussion over who was taking it with Jimmy-Jay Morgan: "Obviously JJ is dying to score goals as well but I told him his goals will come. He's got more chance of scoring in open play than I have so I have to be on the pens."

On the positive start to the season: "We've been in this position before but it's a long season, it's 46 games. There are no easy games in the Championship and we've got to learn from last season and what went wrong. We've just got to keep building on performances."

There needs to be a big improvement from Burnley. Last week was probably a smokescreen. Coming from 2-0 down, I wasn't getting too excited, even though it was against West Ham, but today was totally unacceptable.

West Brom are not a great team, they won't win the league and I'll be surprised if they make the play-offs, but they made Burnley look a weak team. It was men vs boys.

It's been a great team performance from West Bromwich Albion. The work rate and the tenacity...

Ousmane Diakite has stood out for me and James Morrison will be delighted.

You cannot gleam too much from the table at this stage of the season.

But that result means West Brom are one of just three teams to win both of their first two games, alongside Millwall and Charlton.

The Baggies are up into second place, while Burnley are 18th.

West Brom maintain their 100% start to the new Championship season with an excellent statement victory over Burnley.

That’s now just one defeat in their past 13 league games for Albion under James Morrison, who is continuing where he left off with the good work towards the end of last season.

It's a reality check for the Clarets, who are still yet to win since relegation from the Premier League.

I've got no problem with the first half. It was end-to-end and it was a cracking half of football.

But in the second half, you cannot play like this.

I'm relatively surprised Price is still at West Brom, an Everton return seemed to be on the cards earlier in the summer. Definitely top drawer Championship player, could he do the business in the Premier League?

Kyle Walker tries to loft one over the top for Burnley but that looked very much more in hope than expectation.
