I am not even getting into the rights and wrongs of the actual decision but the general experience inside the stadium is terrible.

There are no visuals for the fans, no real communication about what the VAR is looking at - Lisandro Martinez was asking - no replays, just an interminable wait.

Everyone understands why VAR exists. It was never envisaged it would take so long to reach conclusions.

All this talk of overruling VAR's recommendation for Cunha's goal, but it's actually refreshing to see a referee take ownership of a decision and stand by it. VAR's word isn't the law, only a recommendation.

By that logic, virtually every single handball should be deemed no foul play as accidental! It's rarely deliberate. The players do know they aren't playing basketball.

Bruno Fernandes was laughing and clapping his team-mate encouragingly there.

Desperate for Bryan Mbeumo to finally end his goal drought? Perhaps.

Desperate to have provided the assist to ensure he equals the all-time assist record in a season? Definitely.

Goodness me. It's not third time lucky for Bryan Mbeumo!

He does really well to get into space after the pass from Bruno Fernandes but his effort skies over the bar.

As I said before, it's just not happening for him.

    Man Utd 2-1 Nott'm Forest

    Gary Neville
Former Manchester United defender on Sky Sports

I think that is an absolute shocker in every single way. It's ridiculous. The VAR have been quite clear, they said it has been disallowed, he has handballed it and brought the ball back into play. I can't believe what I have just seen to be honest.

VAR looked at it for three minutes and then the referee looks at it for another minute. They are overthinking it. They have got themselves into a real mess there.

  12. 'That's poor from the VAR'published at 13:51 BST

    Man Utd 2-1 Nott'm Forest

    Adam Crafton
Reporter for The Athletic, speaking on BBC's Radio 5 Live

I think that's poor from the VAR to ask the ref to go to the screen. If the decision had been to disallow it, then you would send them to the screen to overturn. But it's wasted three minutes, ultimately the right decision though.

VAR is beyond a farce now. Beyond satire. A clear handball.

VAR is a joke. I'm a Man Utd fan and even I will admit that goal shouldn't have stood!

I don't know why they are looking at it so many times. I can see it in real time from 60 yards away. The arm brings the ball back into his arc of playing it. It would have run away from him. It's a no brainer.

The referee is not having that that is a handball. He had a real good watch of the incident and has determined that the handball was not intentional.
