Sunderland

Sunderland defender Trai Hume on Dan Ballard's red card: "I don't know how someone can control doing that motion. It's not on purpose. It's obviously an accident. It doesn't make sense to me."

Brentford

Brentford goalscorer Mikkel Damsgaard to Sky Sports: "We scored our chances and closed out the game. It was a good one.

"We knew it would be tough. We're fighting for Europe. We're saying it's on. We need to get some points from the last three games and see where it takes us. We've just improved so much this season."

On Josh Dasilva's return: "He's such a good person and he means a lot to the group. He's massive outside the pitch and he helps the team get better. He's a massive player for us."

Sunderland

Sunderland manage Regis le Bris, speaking to Sky Sports on the race for Europe: "I think we are not thinking about the final position at the end of the season. The most important thing is the next game. If you are a good team, you can beat Manchester United and after that we will see. It is going to be a challenging fixture and I look forward to it. I hope we will be proud at the end of the season."

Brentford

Brentford manager Keith Andrews to BBC Match of the Day: "We haven't had what we've deserved but that's the game. Today I wanted us to keep the performance but find a way to win. I thought it was a terrific win today.

"We caused them a lot of problems. The problems they caused us were from our own doing. I thought there was more of an edge to our play in the second half."

On being in the race for Europe: "It's tight, obviously. The fact we've stayed in that position even though we've drawn loads of games...we've had a special season so far and I want us to continue that. We'll just keep pushing."

On Josh Dasilva's return: "I got quite emotional when I was looking at his introduction into the game. It's a special moment for the club, he works so hard. He epitomises the club really. It was a special moment to see him back on the pitch.

Wolves

Wolves manager Rob Edwards on Dan Ballard's red card: "It's the letter of the law. We've had it twice with Tolu (Arokodare) this season. I'm not saying it's a deliberate thing - but it's happened."

Fulham

Fulham boss Marco Silva, speaking to Sky Sports: "I don't like to go this way, we should have performed much better. The goals we still have to achieve are not at the level we were. Things that we should analyse, it's not the moment to talk now. We have to be ready for it.

On second-half improvement: "It was the minimum that we should have done. We knew it was going to happen. We spoke about what we should have done completely differently. They are the baiscs and if you look at the goals and the chances they create, they are the basics that were not there. It was clear at half-time. We wanted to do completely different things with winning duels; it was there in the second half but too late.

"If you don't have all the squad ready, we have to go with the others and we trust them. We will be stronger. There are three points that we lost. The gap will be bigger if not, that is not under our control. We have to be very disappointed with the performance."

Wolves

Wolves manager Rob Edwards speaking to Match of the Day: "It's a game we should win. In the end we have created a number of big chances, scrambles, some big opportunities and not taken them. The sending off helped things because it was a disappointing way to concede and it looked like it was going to be a difficult day. It was a difficult atmosphere for the lads to be play in and I think that made them anxious as well. But in the end, the lads gave everything. We created some good opportunities and should have won the game."

Arsenal

Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta, speaking to BBC Match of the Day: "I’m extremely happy today. It was a really tough match to play. We came back to Madrid very late on Thursday. We gave so much in that match and had to play a game in good form [in Fulham].

"I think the team played incredibly well today. We dominated and showed the hunger we discussed before the game. We have the opportunity to win two major competitions. We're games away from achieving that. The boys feel extremely privileged to be in that position. Today, they showed the kind of team we are."

On the reaction of the Arsenal fans: "That’s exactly what we need. If we can produce that synergy between the players, actions and the crowd, we make one hell of an opponent."

On Bukayo Saka: "He made another step today. We need to be very cautious in the manner that we are loading him, but you could tell today the things that he can do."

On Myles Lewis-Skelly: "He has the ability to play in every position. He’s so gifted. He’s had to wait and be humble, which is not easy with what he did the season before. Today, he got rewarded for his behaviour."

Brighton & Hove Albion

Brighton manager Fabian Hurzeler speaking to BBC Match of the Day: "We dominated the game except a short period after the two goals. We lost a bit of strucure but besides that dominated the game, had the ball and had chances. But the key moments we wern't able to manage well, and that's why we lost.

"Every time you concede a goal you can do something better. We knew they would have physicality on the pitch - height especially at set pieces. The first goal is unlucky decision. I like players who make decisions. If you make decisions and make mistakes then afterwards everyone knows better. I prefer players who take responsibility. All we can do is analyse it and bounce back next weekend.

"The first half we started really well, created chances and had the ball. They were dangerous at set pieces and in transition moments. We knew that, tried to control that, but it's hard to control. At half-time there wasn't much to change. My boys always believe and never give up. We got a goal back and the game could go in a different direction.

"It's not about feeling sorry for ourselves. We will take responsibility, analyse and bounce back."

West Ham United

West Ham manager Nuno Espirito Santo to BBC Match of the Day: "I stand here honest and trying to speak to you about what I saw. Brentford is a very good team but the way we react and play the first half, hitting the post, having a goal disallowed for a tight margin, it gives us hope at half-time. But the penalty hurts us and after that is becomes an old situation with the rush.

"But it's up to us how we react from a tough loss today. [The penalty] it hurt us, it goes against what we wanted in the half-time talk. It's unfortunate we conceded from a penalty, it could be avoided.

"It's up to us how we will react from the situation and noise. Let's stick together. We have three games to go. It will go down to the wire, the last game. We have to stick together."

Newcastle United

Newcastle defender Dan Burn speaking to BBC Sport Final Score: "We needed that, we have picked up some not great results lately. the win was important. It wasn't the greatest performance, let them back in second half, but it's great to get three points.

"A lot of the responsibility [for this season] falls on us players. The gaffer has taken a lot of stick, so that was for him today. Three games left anything can happen. We are well outside European places but we will give it a good push

"Changing to a back five helped, we were struggling with a back four, they we rotating positions well and we struggled to get up the pitch. Fair play to the gaffer for switching to a back five, we started catching them on the break. I was a good performance.

"The amount of games you have, you don't have time to train. We are a team that likes to be out on the training pitch. The top teams are good at constantly going, so that is something we need to work on if we get European football next season or season after.

"I can understand the frustration, we have been on such an upward trajectory in recent seasons and we have taken a bit of a dip. We are looking to finish the season strong."

Sunderland

Sunderland manage Regis le Bris on Dan Ballard's red card: "I understand the rule and the referee has to execute it. But it is hard to understand in that condition, especially because it was intentionally. There was no violent conduct. I think it's important for the referees and the Premier League to be clear with the rule because in this case, you can't play a duel in case you accidentally grab something. I hope we will have a conversation with the referees to adjust this rule and make it better."

"When the forward has long hair, it's hard. It's important to have this conversation and make the rule clearer."

Fulham

Fulham manager Marco Silva, speaking to BBC Match of the Day about Fulham's fitness problems: “That’s the easiest excuse, but we started with 11. As a whole, we should have done much better, and if you don’t do the basics well you’re not going to be able to compete.

“You have to go through these type of difficult spells in a football match, but the other things have to be there – the basic way to defend and defend your box. We have to be much stronger in the way we defended. We were not at that level this afternoon.

“I can’t mention one part of the first half because they started on the front foot. We wanted to be a bit more aggressive in our press and match their intensity. It was not possible. Overall in the first-half, we were not at our level.

“Of course, we’re going to be stronger if we have all players available. Unfortunately for us, we’re losing decisive players at a key time of the season.”

That was the best I've seen him play. It reminded me of Haaland.

The players trust him a lot more, they were playing it in to him and he felt more confident.
