  2. NZ 12-1published at 4 overs

Matthew Fisher with a wobble seam delivery thuds into the pads of Devon Conway from over the wicket.

Henry Nicholls not quite in Kane Williamson's class.

    Big shoes to fill.

This is absolutely the sort of day, situation and pitch when Kane Williamson would be getting a hundred.

  9. NZ 8-1published at 2.3 overs

Henry Nicholls attempts to pull Jofra Archer and the ball spoons up in the air before thudding into the turf.

Was there some bat? Maybe. A healthy dose of thigh pad, certainly.

Tom Latham hangs his bat to a delivery back of length from Jofra Archer and he edges it into the gloves of James Rew.

There was just enough movement off the seam from Archer to the left-hander who trudges back to the pavilion knowing he should have left that well alone.

The Oval crowd cheer in celebration. A handy early breakthrough for England.

  12. NZ 8-0published at 2 overs

Some uneven bounce with the new ball has Matthew Fisher open mouthed.

He skids one slightly low-ish between Devon Conway's bat and pad.

It's a good pitch but there's still some juice in it.

  16. NZ 7-0published at 0.4 overs

    Beautifully played by Devon Conway.

Slightly overpitched by Jofra Archer and the Kiwi opener plays a classical straight drive to mid-off's left which whistles away for four.
