    He has been attacking against the spin today, but he was not able to get that one to go for six.

    Tom Banton managed to move around comfortably.

    The centurion departs!

    Kusal Mendis holes out to Tom Banton at deep mid-wicket off Rehan Ahmed, ending a magnificent innings of 121 from 100 balls.

    Banton had mis-fielded out there a couple of balls earlier, almost letting a shot from Kusal break through for four, but made no mistake there.

    I love the way Kusal Mendis is taking the positive options and he has put England under pressure.

    It's probably been a while since Harry Brook has had to think tactically.

    Sri Lanka have gone through the gears. They targeted the spin really well. They were explosive against the spin.

    Kusal Mendis drops to his right and helps Jamie Overton's yorker through fine leg for four.

    Normally from that position the ball will be lapped in the air, but that was jabbed along the ground.

    He had to get that right, otherwise Overton's delivery would have cleared-up his exposed stumps.

    The shot moves the Sri Lanka skipper to 118, meaning he's scored a century since he was dropped by Gus Atkinson.

    Not a bad return for Rehan Ahmed - his first over back goes for four runs.

    There are lots of movements and Kusal Mendis has got to make sure there's not too many movements where he loses the ball.

    He is trying to create some rhythm for himself.

    They have to start rotating that strike regularly. Sri Lanka cannot afford to make a mistake here.

    Rehan Ahmed is coming on to bowl - we haven't seen any spin since the 23rd over, somewhat curious for an ODI.

    Today's century is the first ODI hundred Kusal Mendis has scored outside of Asia in his career - Sri Lanka's captain has now scored four of Sri Lanka's last nine ODI centuries.

    There's the century!

    One delivery after almost being dismissed, Kusal Mendis reaches his hundred with a four down the ground.

    It's his seventh ODI hundred and his first against England, it comes up off 82 balls - his first fifty was off 47, so he has accelerated.

    No edge there - the man on 99 survives!

    It was a bit strange as only a couple of England players seemed particularly interested.

    There was nothing in it and there was no real appeal. That didn't look right. The keeper didn't appeal. Joe Root got excited, and then up went the finger!
