
At least three dead following pro-democracy protests in Sudan
At least three pro-democracy protesters have been killed in Sudan as they mark three years since the uprising that ousted former president Omar al-Bashir.
At least three people have been killed during a nationwide pro-democracy protest in Sudan. The demonstrations are to mark three years since the uprising that ousted former president Omar al-Bashir. Internet services have been cut in the country’s capital, Khartoum, in what appears to be an effort to disrupt the protests. Those protests were planned for today and are meant to be taking place across the country.
Also, an update on the UK government’s decision to deport Nigerian and Ghanaian immigrants. Thirty-eight Nigerians deported from the UK, have now landed in the commercial city of Lagos. The Nigeria foreign affairs ministry officials told the BBC on Wednesday night that the affected people, including mothers and grandmothers, some of whom have spent over 30 years in Britain were being sent back to the country for immigration related offences.
