
Violent clash between Maasai community and police in Tanzania
The Maasai community in Tanzania have clashed with authorities over land rights and access, complaining of being forced off their ancestral lands.
In Tanzania, tensions built have culminated into clashes between police and the Masaai communities in the Loliondo district. In a move viewed as controversial by rights groups, the Tanzanian government announced its plans to begin the relocation of Masaai families from the Ngorongoro Conservation Area to new villages, hundreds of kilometres away.
Key healthcare facility in Cameroon burned down in one of several attacks in the southwest region of the country, with the authorities blaming separatist fighters. However, Ambazonia separatists who are very active in the area are deny involvement.
The Green Ghana Campaign kicked off today and it aims to plant at least 20 million trees across Ghana to help to restore the lost forest cover and contribute to global climate action.
The High Court of England has heard a case presented by charity organisations aiming to stop the UK from sending refugees to Rwanda. The UN's refugee agency warned the UK Home Office twice that its plans to send those seeking asylum from the United Kingdom to Rwanda was unlawful. About 31 people had been told they may be on the first flight out of the UK on Tuesday.
