
Nigeria: Transport minister visits scene of Abuja-Kaduna train attack
Rotimi Amaechi says he visited patients in the local hospital
Nigeria’s Minister for Transport Rotimi Amaechi has visited the scene of the train attack on Monday in which eight passengers dead. Gunmen attacked the busy train travelling between Nigeria's capital, Abuja, and Kaduna city, hospital, sources have told the BBC. The train carrying 970 passengers was forced to stop.
Rebels in the Democratic Republic of Congo have denied shooting down a United Nations helicopter in the east of the country. The M23 group blame Congolese soldiers for the incident in which eight peacekeepers died. Government and rebel forces have been fighting after the group attacked villages.
Millions of people in the northern Ethiopian region of Tigray are facing starvation as they continue to wait for the arrival aid. A spokesman for the Tigray People's Liberation Front (TPLF) blames the government.
