The town that Snot built
Take a walk through the centre of Nottingham and discover it's much more than a trip to the shops. In 90 minutes you'll see rock that's millions of years old, urban haunts for birds of prey and, of course, the home of the evil Sheriff of Nottingham.

More info:
You will potentially see a variety of wildlife, rock dating back millions of years, some of the oldest pubs in the UK and lots of shops.
Getting there:
By train:
The Midland train station is close to the BBC but if you want you could pick up the walk from here and follow the route along the canal (go to page 10).
By bus :
Catch any bus to the Broadmarsh bus station then walk along Canal Street to the BBC centre.
By car: Drive to the Broadmarsh shopping centre car park (it's a pay and display). There are several other car parks around the city centre as well as parking on the street but it is all pay and display. Beware - the traffic wardens are vigilant. If parking at the Broadmarsh walk along Canal Street to the BBC Centre.
Walk conditions
Paths are well made (pavements) although by the canalside they do vary in width and are less well made. During wet conditions they will get muddy. Because Nottingham was built on a hill there are several steep climbs but remember, there's no rush so just take your time. Because of the good paths the route is wheelchair and buggy friendly although you might need help up the hills and you might have to take street level paths instead of the route along the canal.

Acknowledgments:
The BBC would like to thank Norman Lewis for his help in preparing this walk.
