Rubbish and Recycling

This is a study of rubbish and recycling in Northern Ireland.

In the videos and audio clips local young people look at the issues involved with getting rid of rubbish and explain the importance of teaching people to reduce, re-use and recycle.

Other videos look at recycling in Cuba, what happens to all the nappies that are thrown away every year and how we can re-use food waste in the garden.

Watch the videos in order to visit the island where the cars are sixty years old and discover how worms can help us recycle.

The study encourages pupils to consider:

•what happens to all the rubbish we throw away

•the problems caused by the disposal of rubbish

•what happens to the stuff we recycle

•the importance of reducing, re-using and recycling

•the practical steps they could take to reduce the amount of rubbish they throw away

•where their local recycling facility is and what happens there.
