Food

This is a study of food based in the city of Birmingham.

The topics of locally grown food, how far our food travels and the benefits of buying Fair Trade products are explored in video and audio clips.

Other videos look at the history of chocolate, the food that's eaten on special occasions and the foods that are eaten all over the world.

The study encourages pupils to consider:

•where the food we eat comes from

•what food is produced in their area and where it is sold

•how our eating habits have changed

•the foods we eat on special occasions

•how the Fair Trade scheme helps food producers

•the cultural diversity of the food now commonly available.
