Dogs banned from region's beaches
Dogs are to be banned from beaches in the East Riding during the summer.

The pets will not be allowed on designated zones on beaches at Bridlington, Hornsea and Withernsea from 1 May until 30 September.

Anyone caught walking their dog in the banned areas could be issued with a 500 fixed penalty ticket.

East Riding of Yorkshire Council said the ban was essential to help keep beaches safe and attractive places for families with young children.

"We are grateful for the understanding and co-operation of the vast majority of dog owners and hope it continues throughout the summer," a council spokesman said.
