It is claimed a marina is key to the resort's regeneration |
Plans to build a marina in Bridlington could be back on track if agreement is reached at a meeting on Tuesday. Representatives of the Harbour Board and the East Riding Council are meeting formally for the first time since the two sides fell out last month.
Councillors say they want a firm commitment from the Harbour Board that it is fully behind the project.
Otherwise, they say, they will look at other ways of bringing new businesses and jobs to Bridlington.
Talks broke down last month because of a dispute over the exact amount of legal fees the council is liable to pay the board following a public inquiry which resulted in the original scheme being rejected.
If no agreement can be reached at Tuesday's meeting, the Harbour Board may decide to go ahead with its own small 120 boat marina.
It says this can be built within the existing harbour by creating a new non-tidal area behind lock gates.
