Resort unveils new marina plans
Chris Wright
Mr Wright complains that the plans will block in the harbour
Fresh plans for the multi-million pound redevelopment of Bridlington marina have been unveiled.

The proposed improvements would see an estimated 35m put into the scheme to provide a 500-berth marina and new fishing facilities.

The town centre and leisure facilities would also be redeveloped.

This is the second marina proposal from the East Riding of Yorkshire Council after an earlier project was turned down by the government.

Rival scheme

But the new plans have already run into opposition from Bridlington's Harbour Master, Chris Wright.

"Unfortunately, the new plans are unworkable," he said.

"The problem is that they have done a plan for the whole harbour being blocked in.

"They have not considered any of the harbour users; the fishermen or pleasure boat users."

Mr Wright said the Harbour Commissioners were drawing up alternative proposals "for a development that will suit everybody".
