1979: Poly Styrene – Punk Pioneer

Marianne Joan Elliott-Said, better known as punk singer Poly Styrene, was profiled in a 1979 episode of Arena broadcasted when she was just 21 years old. The front-woman of new-wave band X-Ray Spex, she talked about adopting a stage name from the 'disposable' identity of pop stars.
