1964: Great Train Robbers get 300 years
Twelve of the so-called Great Train Robbers had sentences totalling 307 years imposed on them on 16 April 1964.
The men had stolen £2.6m in used bank notes after holding up the night mail train travelling from Glasgow to London. The robbery was the biggest ever carried out in the UK.
Superintendent Malcolm Fewtrell, who led the investigations that jailed the train robbers, was interviewed by Peter Woon.
