After four consecutive breaks of serve, Valentin Royer holds serve to love, and skips to his chair in triumph.
From being a break up and looking home and hosed, now Novak Djokovic must serve to stay in the third set.

What is going on here?
Once again Novak Djokovic is broken back, and he's furious, gesticulating angrily with his box.
But it's mainly of his own making - although Valentin Royer does play his part, particularly with a lovely floated forehand dropshot, which leaves Djokovic stranded at the back of the court.

Oooh. That was a nervy one for Elena Rybakina as she's drawn into the net, but she stops a Starodubtseva pass from squeezing by and dinks the ball over.
Five match points remain.

Novak Djokovic is clearly seething after losing his serve but channels his frustration into breaking Valentin Royer again.
With the will of a champion, he rattles off four points in a row to break Royer to love, clinching the game after forcing an error from his opponent with some aggressive hitting around the court.
Djokovic again urges the crowd to give him some encouragement.

Well, that was unexpected.
Novak Djokovic finds himself 0-30 down and then serves a double fault.
He's facing his first break points of the match - and there are three of them.
The former world number one saves them all but then rails at the heavens as Valentin Royer faces another.
And a fourth double fault of the match for Djokovic means it's back on serve in the third set.

Even with Yulia Starodubtseva's weaker second serve, Elena Rybakina can't capitalise.
The Kazakh takes control of the next point and has Starodubtseva for the taking, but then she slams a forehand long.
This is getting away from her now. 6-2.

You feel like this match does deserve a tie-breaker with all of the drama we've had so far. Starodubtseva has battled exceptionally well.

Novak Djokovic tries to get the crowd involved as he looks for a way to see off Valentin Royer, asking for them for encouragement, and they duly respond.
The cheers give way to groans as Royer double-faults to give Djokovic a break point.
And the Serb duly converts by wrong-footing his opponent to take a big step towards reaching the third round here for the 21st year in a row.

This is one of those matches where if Rybakina comes through, it just gives her a little bit more confidence because if you're going to go on to win a major there's always one match where you don't necessarily play your best tennis but you find a way to come through it.

Elena Rybakina isn't playing her best tennis but she's at least got her serve back on track.
There's not the same number of aces flying off her racquet but that won't matter to her at the moment as she gets another hold over the line and put the pressure back on Yuliia Starodubtseva.

Once again Novak Djokovic holds serve easily without dropping a point.
Still no sniff of a break point for Valentin Royer.

Any thought that Valentin Royer might just lose heart and roll over in the third set is way off the mark as he again holds to love.
