For Swan, you're there trying not to think of the score and finishing the match. You know you're serving well - it's just do the same thing and think the same thoughts. Get the serve in, look for the forehand and keep the feet moving.

This would be huge for Swan in points and in prize money.

It's great to see Katie Swan back playing well she's always been a quality player but has been ravaged by injuries. Similar style to Emma.

Amanda Anisimova is safely through to round two of the women's draw.

The American sixth seed, who lost last year's final to Iga Swiatek, did not face a break point in her match with qualifier Lina Gjorcheska of North Macedonia.

That's probably the most we've seen Begu attacking for quite some time. Using the forehand well, getting up to the ball and taking it early.

    Begu 4-6 4-5 Swan*

Following Katie Boulter's elimination, our attention turns to her compatriot Katie Swan, who has the chance to become the first Briton through to the second round at Wimbledon this year.

The 27-year-old is serving for the match against Romania's Irina-Camelia Begu.

All credit to Tyra Caterina Grant.

At no point did the 18-year-old, on her Grand Slam main draw debut, allow Katie Boulter to build any momentum and really get the home crowd involved.

Grant, who began playing tennis as a child after her mum saw Serena Williams play on grass, and grew up practising with current men’s world number one Jannik Sinner, is definitely a name to watch out for.

Cool and calm throughout, she says she’ll be watching Williams’ Wimbledon singles return later today - and she is hoping that, at some point, they might get to play against each other.

Another Brit falls as 18-year-old Tyra Grant takes her place in the second round at the expense of British number two Katie Boulter.

Boulter never really got going and was unable to challenge Grant's impressive serving throughout the match

As inconsistent as Boulter was, take nothing away from Grant, who looked perfectly at home on her first Grand Slam appearance.

Madison Keys has lost the first set of her match against American qualifier Kayla Day on a tie-break, netting a forehand on Day's first set point.

Work to do now for 26th seed Keys, who won the title on the grass at Eastbourne a few days ago.

Katie Swan's serve has been so solid in this second set. Three service games, just one point dropped.

She hasn't faced a break point all match and Irina-Camelia Begu doesn't look like she has any answers.

Swan's team, who are sat in front of me, don't need to dish out any instructions - she knows what's she's doing.

Maybe some tough love from LTA is needed. Fewer wild cards for the main draw and more for qualifying.

  11. Grant breaks againpublished at 12:08 BST

    Boulter 4-6 2-5 Grant*

Katie Boulter looks dejected as she slips to 0-30 as the crowd try to encourage the British number two.

A long forehand gifts Tyra Grant three break points and although she saves two, Boulter can't rescue the third as the Italian's forehand proves too hot to handle.

Grant has the double break and will now serve for the match.

    *Boulter 4-6 2-4 Grant

    Harry Poole
    BBC Sport at Wimbledon

Katie Boulter needs to stay rock solid on serve if she has any chance of getting back into this, but three double faults and a first serve percentage of just 44% so far in the second set is making her own games far from straightforward.

The other major issue is that she has still not been able to create a break point - and time to do so really is running out now.

She may only be 18, but Italian Tyra Caterina Grant, who also has decent support behind her from pockets of the crowd here, is hitting with real freedom as she edges closer to victory.

    *Boulter 4-6 2-4 Grant

Tyra Grant can't miss at the moment as she arrows a forehand winner past a stranded Katie Boulter before holding to love.

You would never guess that this is the 18-year-old's first Grand Slam appearance going off this performance.

    She's looked right at home.

    Begu 4-6 1-2 Swan*

    Emily Salley

Katie Swan, take a bow. What a way to break!

The 27-year-old stays in a mammoth rally with a mix of slices and hard hits, but she ends it with a delightful cross-court drop shot that leaves Irina-Camelia Begu with no chance.

Best not to get too far ahead of ourselves, but it's looking good in terms of Swan becoming the first British player to make it into the second round this year.

  15. Anisimova leads, Paolini fighting backpublished at 11:59 BST

Last year's women's runner-up Amanda Anisimova is a set and a break up against North Macedonia's Lina Gjorcheska on Court Two.

Madison Keys, a former Australian Open champion and the winner at Eastbourne last week, is heading for a first-set tie-break against fellow American Kayla Day. Keys is 6-5 up but Day is serving to force the breaker.

But 13th seed and former Wimbledon finalist Jasmine Paolini is in a bit of trouble against American Robin Montgomery.

The Italian lost the first set 6-0 on Court 12 but leads 3-1 with a break of serve in the second set.

Today's Wimbledon Daily podcast is now available - Katie Smith is joined by commentator Gigi Salmon as well as former Wimbledon champions Pat Cash and Marion Bartoli.

They reflect on a bad day for the home players as 10 Britons lost, while Jack Draper withdrew with a recurrence of the arm injury he's struggled with for most of the past 12 months.

They also react to hard-fought wins for Novak Djokovic and Jannik Sinner, as well as more serene progress for Aryna Sabalenka in the women's draw.

  18. Boulter brokenpublished at 11:56 BST

    Boulter 4-6 1-2 Grant*

Katie Boulter isn't looking comfortable on serve and a double fault, followed by a wayward forehand, gives Tyra Grant the break in the second set.

Court three has gone very quiet and it feels like a long way back for Boulter from here against Grant, who has been very impressive today.

    *Boulter 4-6 1-1 Grant

    Mel South
Former British player on BBC TV

Boulter wasn't able to give herself a break point and that's what she needs to make the most of. I think she's found it really difficult to read the ball toss to the side of the box that Grant is playing the first serve.

Maybe you need to move that position and give another look to try and throw her off and really get onto the second serves.

  20. Can Boulter launch fightback?published at 11:51 BST

    *Boulter 4-6 1-1 Grant

    Harry Poole
    BBC Sport at Wimbledon

Katie Boulter managed to get the home support into the match a bit towards the end of the first set, but it has all felt fairly flat so far on court three.

‘Let’s go Katie, let’s go’ was chanted as the players took a breather before set two, and she responds with a gritty hold of serve from deuce in her opening game.

Boulter lets out a huge roar after she swats away a final forehand, drawing cheers from the crowd.

She is absolutely going to need them here if she is to turn this around and give the British fans something to smile about.
