I think we are starting to see quite a lot more of Jannik Sinner's personality this year, rather than just the player. I think that is important in tennis, and the crowd really seems to be warming to him.

    Sierra 3-6 6-3 1-1 Gauff*

Solana Sierra has stood up well in these situations and delivers again.

After getting advantage, Sierra fires over a body serve and there's nothing Coco Gauff can do.

    *Sierra 3-6 6-3 0-1 Gauff

    Take a bow Solana Sierra.

Sierra is up against it after Coco Gauff strides to the net and slams over a forehand but the Argentinean adjusts her feet and nestles a backhand on to the paint in the far corner. Undoubtedly the shot of the match.

Sierra is closing in on the hold at 40-30 but a slip on the baseline allows Gauff to get to deuce.

  4. What's happened so far today?published at 16:28 BST

    • Defending men's champion Jannik Sinner reached the third round with a straight-set win against Nuno Borges.
    • French Open finalist Flavio Cobolli won his first-round match against Mariano Navone, which was unable to be completed last night, in four sets.
    • Aryna Sabalenka and Naomi Osaka were straight-set winners in their respective matches to book places in the third round of the women's singles.
    • Dan Evans' career came to an end with a men's doubles defeat alongside fellow Briton Henry Searle.
  5. Gauff holdspublished at 16:24 BST

    *Sierra 3-6 6-3 0-1 Gauff

It's tough to pick a winner after a contrasting opening couple of sets but one thing that's certain is we're going the distance.

Coco Gauff is on serve first and seizes the opportunity to set the tone. A hold to 15 does the job.

  6. 'A couple of things to improve, but I'm very happy'published at 16:22 BST

    Sinner 7-6 (7-4) 7-6 (7-2) 6-4 Borges

World number one Jannik Sinner, speaking on Centre Court after beating Portugal's Nuno Borges in straight sets: "I'm happy. Of course the second set was very tough. It felt like we were both serving very well in the first couple of sets so there weren't a lot of exchanges.

"But overall, in these matches where you don't have a lot of control, I'm very happy to win, especially here on this surface.

"I have two wins under my belt now and of course we will see what is to come, but I'm very happy about this result. There are obviously a couple of things to improve, but I'm very happy. Thank you for coming, the support has been amazing."

On whether he feels the rust is wearing off on the grass now: "I mean, we will have to wait and see. In the first match especially, I felt a lack of match time. I also felt like that today in a couple of moments. I need to get back to the rhythm, but if you look at the scoreboard it was very close and matches like these help me a lot. Of course we aim to improve and get a little bit better.

"Tomorrow is a day off and yesterday I didn't do a lot because the first match was five sets and very long, but I'm looking forward to what's coming."

Another tough test for Jannik Sinner, but he patiently finds a way through to reach the third round. I'm sure that will be a relief after his surprise Roland Garros exit a month ago.

Nuno Borges gave it his best go and he gets a warm round of applause as he makes his way off court.

    Sierra 3-6 6-3 0-0 Gauff*

Coco Gauff gets fully behind her backhand and wins a couple of points to apply some pressure.

But Solana Sierra responds by going all out on her first serve and Gauff's return loops long.

    It's all square!

  9. 'A good sign for Sinner'published at 16:17 BST

    Sinner 7-6 (7-4) 7-6 (7-2) 6-4 Borges

    John McEnroe
Three-time Wimbledon singles champion on BBC Two

It was a great test for Sinner.

He played a guy playing as good as he can play. Threw a lot at him. Made him come up with the goods in intense moments. He has to be feeling good about that.

That to me is just what the doctor ordered. Highly competitive and he lifted, that is a good sign for Sinner.

He is going to go into Friday feeling a lot better than he was when he was two sets to one down on Monday.

  10. Set points Sierrapublished at 16:17 BST

Leading 30-0, Solana Sierra has to apologise to Coco Gauff when her drop shot tickles the net cord and just drops over.

    Sierra has three set points.

    *Sierra 3-6 5-3 Gauff

Coco Gauff fires out a couple of aces en route to a hold to love.

A message from the seventh seed that she's refusing to let this second set go.

Over to Solana Sierra to serve for the set.

    Sierra 3-6 5-2 Gauff*

Solana Sierra looks like she's picked up a few tricks from Coco Gauff. The Argentine plants her feet in the middle of the baseline and fires away a backhand winner.

Gauff will serve to stay in the set.

Nuno Borges, on the approach, sends a sliced backhand long.

Jannik Sinner is through to the third round in straight sets.

Not a vintage performance from the defending champion - he was error-strewn again and found Borges a constant thorn in his side - but it's another win.

  16. Deucepublished at 16:10 BST

    Sierra 3-6 4-1 Gauff*

Coco Gauff drops the first couple of points but refuses to let the game - and likely the set - slip away.

Gauff comes through a tense rally, eventually slamming a winner at the net, to lead 40-30 but Solana Sierra takes the game to deuce.

  19. Medvedev in controlpublished at 16:08 BST

    *Merida 6-3 3-6 5-7 0-2 Medvedev

After losing the opening set, Russian eighth seed Daniil Medvedev has taken control against Daniel Merida by winning the next two.

The two-time Wimbledon semi-finalist secured the third set 7-5 and is now a break up early in the fourth and well on his way to booking a third-round spot.

  20. Match point Sinnerpublished at 16:08 BST

    *Sinner 7-6 (7-4) 7-6 (7-2) 5-4 Borges

Nuno Borges can't believe his ears as his fizzing cross-court forehand is called out. Centimetres away from 0-30.

He levels the game at 30-all after getting Jannik Sinner on the run but with an audacious forehand drive volley from outside the service box, the defending champion earns match point.
