  3. Shots of the day...published at 23:52 BST 21 April

We've see some incredible shots this evening.

Well worth checking out before you hit the hay.

Fan Zhengyi produced two high-calibre doubles in his match against Shaun Murphy. One down the table to pot the green, then another on a re-spotted black to win the frame.

Then in the match between Judd Trump and Gary Wilson, the former produced miraculous escape from a brilliant snooker by the latter.

  4. 'I take a lot of pride in being world number one'published at 23:51 BST 21 April

Earlier on, Judd Trump became the 10th seed out of 10 to make it through. After trailing 4-1, the world number one had led 5-4 against Gary Wilson, although the world 27 made it 5-5 at the beginning of the second session.

But Trump pulled clear by winning five in a row to seal a 10-5 success.

The 36-year-old has been top of the world rankings since August 2024 and will extend that run if he reaches the quarter-finals.

"I like being number one, it's going to be difficult to keep it unless I do really well in the next season but I take a lot of pride in it," he said.

Trump lives in Dubai, but because of the recent conflict in the Middle East, he left the area temporarily.

"I had to stay in Thailand for a month and I managed to practice for the World Championship but it has been more back to normal now," he said.

"Dubai is still my base, I've been back there in the last couple of weeks and everything is normal."

A stunning long pot from Fan Zhengyi is clipped into the left corner pocket. A tremendous piece of cueing given the situation.

He follows it up with the green and another red then slides the pink into the middle pocket. But with no straightforward pot on he plays a shot to nothing.

So for the first time in this tournament we go to a decider. It is the closest finish to a match, and a latest finish to a session so far at this year's tournament.

One player will be delighted, one will be devastated.

The Crucible is still pretty much full.

Fan Zhengyi racks up a break of 49 with some superb potting to heap the pressure on to Shaun Murphy.

The Englishman hangs in the frame searching for a couple of snookers with five reds left but Fan snuffs out any hope of fightback in the frame by mopping them up.

Fan has yet to get in front in this match. Can he do it in the final frame?

Shaun Murphy nipped 8-7 ahead but Fan Zhengyi has just hit back by winning the 16th frame to make 8-8.

  20. 'A bit scrappy tonight'published at 22:16 BST 21 April

Judd Trump, speaking to BBC Four, said: "Gary was playing well at the start and I had two massive flukes which changed things and I managed to get 5-4 up. After that it was scrappy tonight which kind of played into my hands a little bit. It knocked him out of his rhythm a little bit and I was able to pick up the pieces.

"I felt like towards the end I started to get going and there was a bit of flow. I started to feel more confident and it was nice to end that way rather than the other way around. I think form goes out the window at the World Championship, it's just a different event. You just don't know what's going to happen."
