    Robertson 13-7 Wakelin

    Ken Doherty
1997 world champion on BBC Two

Neil Robertson finishes in style. The century just eludes the Australian but it's been an extremely impressive performance from him. He's had a great season and a match against John Higgins to look forward to.

Robertson through to quarter-finalspublished at 20:39 BST

    Robertson 13-7 Wakelin

A commanding break of 82 from Neil Robertson sees him cruise into the quarter-finals in style against Chris Wakeline.

The Aussie made a slightly slow start after Wakelin won the opening frame but since then it was all Robertson.

He will meet John Higgins in the last eight.

    Trump 10-10 Vafaei

    Stephen Hendry
Seven-time world champion on BBC Two

This is turning into another iffy Judd Trump performance at the Crucible. He has to do some serious thinking during the mid-session interval.

Vafaei brings it level before the mid-session interval

A break of 30 by Judd Trump before he he fails to cut the black into the corner pocket which leaves the door ajar for Hossein Vafaei.

The Iranian is able to get his nose in front with 46 points but during a safety battle leaves a long red on for Trump which he duly dispatches.

However, with just the colours left, Trump fluffs a simple pot on the green this time and Vafaei goes on to close out the frame.

Steve Davis makes a valid point about Vafaei's cue action, it does look very solid and smooth. Trump's game is often more explosive and dynamic, but it will be interesting to see how he adjusts after the interval.

A couple of great shots from Chris Wakelin in frame 19 but ultimately it ends up in the back pocket of his opponent.

Neil Robertson compiles two 30 plus breaks to seal a 69-19 success.

The Australian is now just one frame away from wrapping up victory. Wakelin needs something special from here.

    Trump 10-9 Vafaei

    Joe Perry
Former World Championship semi-finalist on BBC Two

Hossein Vafaei has come through as an unseeded player and it's tough to do that. If you beat someone in the top 16 early on then you could face enough giant in the next round. It's so hard to make your way through against the big guns.

    Trump 10-9 Vafaei

    Steve Davis
Six-time world champion on BBC Two

If you didn't know both these players and asked who has the best cueing action you'd say Hossein Vafaei. It's straight, strong and positively hits the ball. Judd Trump's cue action has a lot more pressure on it.

  9. Vafaei continues to scrappublished at 20:07 BST

    Trump 10-9 Vafaei

Hossein Vafaei with a break of 55 before a black off the spot settles just on the lip of the corner pocket but does not drop.

Judd Trump goes about his business - sinking a brilliant long pink - before laying a snooker for his opponent.

However, after a bit of tactical battle, Vafaei produces a delightful double to sink the final red which is sufficient to wrap up the frame.

Much better from Neil Robertson. A wonderful break from him and he extends his lead again to four frames.

A quicksilver response from Neil Robertson who breezes through the next frame.

The Aussie chalks up a break of 104 unanswered by Chris Wakelin, who is sat in his chair stroking his chin.

Robertson needs two more frames to close this one out.

  12. Wakelin cuts deficitpublished at 19:53 BST

    Robertson 10-7 Wakelin

Over on table one, Chris Wakelin has managed to win a gruelling opening frame against Neil Robertson.

There were a few safety exchanges before Wakelin was able to string a few pots together and leave the Aussie leaving snookers he was unable to find.

    The start of a fightback?

    Trump 10-8 Vafaei

    Steve Davis
Six-time world champion on BBC Two

Hossein Vafaei looks calm and he's on a mission. He's played some great snooker and being behind has not affected him. He's not thrown his toys out the pram and he's a danger for Judd Trump.

  14. Postpublished at 19:44 BST

    Trump 10-8 Vafaei

    Joe Perry
Former World Championship semi-finalist on BBC Two

Hossein Vafaei has played well this match. He's scoring well and competing. He hits the ball beautifully.

  15. Vafaei pulls it backpublished at 19:42 BST

    Vafaei pulls it back

A momentary lapse in concentration from Hossein Vafaei after he compiles a break of 53 but leaves himself on a poor position for a read into the bottom-left pocket. He grimaces after the red misses by a good distance.

Judd Trump responds with a break of 16 before he sees a red into the middle pocket bounce back to where it came from which allows his opponent from Iran to return to the table and seal the frame.

Trump's lead back to two frames.

    Trump 10-7 Vafaei

    Steve Davis
Six-time world champion on BBC Two

You would expect the world number one to fire at some stage in the World Snooker Championship and it is nice if you start to improve in the meaty part of the tournament in the second week. Judd Trump is on course and looking good.

Hossein Vafaei is not playing badly it's just Judd has taken the game by the scruff of the neck.

  17. Trump wins session openerpublished at 19:31 BST

    Gravity was on Trump's side

A break of 45 from Judd Trump before a red hangs on the edge of the pocket for a what feels like age before finally dropping in.

Hossein Vafaei was already on his feet ready to play before retaking his seat and chuckling heartily to himself.

Trump goes on to knock in a break of 77 to kickstart his evening and move three frames clear.

  18. Postpublished at 19:27 BST

    Trump 9-7 Vafaei

    Steve Davis
Six-time world champion on BBC Two

Judd Trump finished the session off yesterday and he looks strong. Hossein Vafaei looks composed and his doing okay so it's been a fair fight between these two.

You could make the case for Vafaei because, even though he's ranked 32, he's got a top eight or top four cue action. If he gets going he can be very strong.

  19. Wu 'a future world champion', says Selbypublished at 19:22 BST

    Selby 11-13 Wu

    Michael Emons
    BBC Sport at the Crucible

While John Higgins was beating Ronnie O'Sullivan on table one, there was also drama on table two with four-time champion Mark Selby losing 13-11 against China's Wu Yize.

Wu, 22, is aiming to become the second Chinese player to win the world title after compatriot Zhao Xintong's success last year.

Ranked 10th, Wu claimed his first ranking tournament at the International Championship in November, with Selby tipping him as a future world champion.

Wu would become the youngest player to win a World Championship since a 21-year-old Stephen Hendry claimed the first of his seven titles in 1990.

In the quarter-finals, Wu will face either world number one Judd Trump or Iran's Hossein Vafaei and is in the opposite half of the draw to Zhao so a first all-China final is still possible.

"Wu is young, still loving the game and not too many battle scars - good luck to the boy, I really like him," said Selby.

"I think he is a World Champion in the making, it could be this year, but if not this year, I do think in his career he'll probably win it at some stage - he is that good. When he is on a run, he is hard to stop."
