Whisper it quietly, but Ulster are one game away from a first European final since 2012.

It's been a remarkable turnaround from last year, and full credit has to go to Richie Murphy and his players.

I know that wasn't the strongest La Rochelle side, but Ulster have been very good tonight and thoroughly deserve their place in the last four.

They dominated La Rochelle if truth be told and now await the winners of Benetton and Exeter in the last four.

James McCormick (conv. Jake Flannery) (77 mins)

That will do it for Ulster now.

After an attacking lineout, Ulster power over from close range with replacement hooker James McCormick the man with the ball in his hand.

Ulster really have their foot on the proverbial throat of La Rochelle now.

With the weather worsening and only six minutes remaining, the French side could be forgiven for thinking of the flight home to balmier conditions.

I'm not entirely sure why or how, but Tom Stewart played that entire last phase without a shirt on.

It's not the night to be showing off your physique. It hasn't got any warmer.

Sometimes it's better not to be asking too many questions.

La Rochelle think they have driven over the line, but Ulster manage to hold the ball up. Not sure how that did not result in a try there.

Ronan O'Gara is standing a bit down from the media gantry and he looks as frozen as the rest of us.

There's been some animated conversations with his coaching staff throughout the game, but he's now standing pretty still, staring at his players trying to work something while muttering the odd word.

A few errors creeping in from both sides. Firstly, Zac Ward kicks possession away straight to a La Rochelle shirt, then the French team are guilty of a sloppy knock-on.

To be honest Ulster won't mind as long as the clock keeps ticking.

It wasn't exact as in-sync as they would have planned, but the Ward brothers link up for a big score.

Every time La Rochelle have threatened to hit back this Ulster team have had an answer.

    Bryn Ward (54 mins)

Barely time to pause after Tolu Latu's dart over the Ulster tryline from some sloppy defence, Bryn Ward scores at the other end.

The substitute back-rower grabs hold of a poor pass on the edge of the La Rochelle 22 before bolting over the line to show his finishing class.

Nathan Doak misses with the kick from out on the left.

    Zac Ward (47 mins)

Zac Ward is in for his second of the night.

The Ulstermen work the space out left and thanks to a chip kick sideways by Jack Murphy, the ball trickles into Wards grasp and he dives over into the corner.

Doak misses with a tough conversion.
