A half that was a microcosm of the series.

South Africa superior in so many of the basics - again bossing the breakdown, set-piece and aerial game - but New Zealand are playing some brilliant rugby with the ball in hand, getting outside the Bok blitz, and staying in touch on the scoreboard.

Ultimately, even if the All Blacks level this series, South Africa are a more well-rounded rugby team at this stage.

But the All Blacks have taken some big stride forwards under Dave Rennie, and have asked questions of the Boks that are seldom asked.

Are these two leaving the rest of the rugby world behind?

No. Sacha Feinberg-Mngomezulu aims for the corner but on a normal weekend here in Baltimore that one would be straight through the endzone.

He kicks it dead and the half is over...clocking in at 57 minutes.

That's the thing about this South Africa side - even when you score against them, you have to work so, so hard and be so, so accurate to cross the whitewash.

Whereas they seem to be able to play the percentages, turn the screw at set-pieces and pick up points in a much lower-risk way.

In hindsight, I admit that may have been too many exclamation points.

We've another stoppage as Codie Taylor needs a fresh strapping put on a nasty-looking cut to his head.

We restart with a scrum and this time New Zealand get it away quickly.

Ten points to the good and they're on the front foot again.

This is impressive stuff from South Africa.

Not sure how Matthew Carley got his point across there but the assistant appears to have called a penalty on Josh Moorby for playing the ball off the deck.

That negates a brilliant piece of escapism from Cam Roigard and the All Blacks will be under pressure five metres out...
