Russo needs to be played up front second half. The best striker in the world is being wasted in the 10 role.

    Lola

I get your point Lola, but her link up play in the ten helps to unlock Blackstenius further forward.

The real problem is that the midfield line behind that front two is being overrun by the Lyon trio of Heaps, Yohannes and Dumornay.

Melchie Dumornay is showing her strength. She has been so impressive.

More work for Daphne van Domselaar to do in the Arsenal goal as Melchie Dumornay bears down on the right and fires low towards the near post. In the end she does well to get her whole body behind it.

    Lyon 2-0 Arsenal (Agg 3-2)

Arsenal are struggling to string more than a few passes together before Lyon win it back.

The tenacity of the hosts' midfield press is proving hard for them to evade, Lily Yohannes in particular has been superb alongside her experienced USA colleague Lindsey Heaps.

How did Kadidiatou Diani squeeze that in?

It had been coming, though. After all the celebrations and feel-good factor surrounding Arsenal last week, they're in trouble.

Lyon look like they could score plenty more.

A penny for Renee Slegers thoughts here.

Pre- match she spoke of her side starting and finishing well, instead though they've just not got going and are in real danger of the tie getting away from them.

I tell you that is a phenomenal finish from Kadidiatou Diani. Low, hard and down to the ground. Perfect.

    Kadidiatou Diani (36 mins)

    Lyon double their lead!

Again it comes from a cross into the box that Arsenal fail to deal with, a corner actually, which arrives from the left and goes all the way through to Kadidiatou Diani who somehow squeezes it inside the back post.

Melchie Dumornay flashes another ball through the Arsenal six yard box from the right but again it's just missing that finishing touch from a team-mate.

    Lyon 1-0 Arsenal (Agg 2-2)

Arsenal have had only four touches in the Lyon box so far. That simply has to change if they are to wrestle back control of this tie from Lyon.

I all honesty, that's pretty poor from van Domselaar. All keepers practice that these days. The back foot trails to make sure you're legal while starting the movement. But she just steps forward and is clearly over. Ah well.

  13. PENALTY APPEALpublished at 31 mins

    Lyon 1-0 Arsenal (Agg 2-2)

Lyon half half a shout for a second penalty of the afternoon as Lindsey Heaps is upended by Kim Little on the borderline of the box.

Replays confirmed that there was little contact though, and the USA midfielder was a little too quick to go to ground.

    In short, no.

Mariona Caldentey aims it towards the penalty spot but it flies past all red and white shirts and behind for a goal kick.

Wide free kick for Arsenal midway through the Lyon half. Can they use this set piece to spark themselves to life?

Ref and var deciding to be more of a factor than they should be.

    Emerson

It takes us back to that debate from earlier this week from the men's semi-finals doesn't it? Arsenal involved again there too - was there enough in it to overturn the original on-field decision? Probably not in my view, but if it had been given first time round then there would have been few complaints.

A rare chance for Arsenal to get forward almost produces the leveller as Alessia Russo threads into the path of Stina Blackstenius.

Goalscorer Wendie Renard resumes her normal defensive duties though with a big last-ditch tackle to take it off the Swede's toes.

I wholeheartedly agree with Rachel. It's been all Lyon so far and they deservedly lead on the afternoon.

The worry for Arsenal is that Les Fenottes look hungry for more.

Since the rule changed for goalkeepers, it is something you have to practice, if you don't start behind your line you're stepping forward off your line.

You have to say it does feel Lyon deserve this margin of victory at the start of the game.

What is going on?! No mistake from Wendie Renard this time!

    The Arsenal players are furious.
