PSG v Aston Villa (20:00 BST)

This is a game PSG want to win hence their team selection. Villa give the impression that it is a game they have to play and the team selection confirms that. No wonder these sides are usually better, they are more committed.

    Not a bad strike.

Should have done better there, he had all the time there Nuno Mendes, it goes into the arms of the Villa keeper Marco Bizot. A little warning there.

A bit of sustained pressure from PSG. They break down the right but Achraf Hakimi's cut back is cut out.

Joao Neves leaves one for Ousmane Dembele but Nuno Mendes' ball is gathered.

You look at the team sheet and think PSG should get it over the line here.

It'll be tough but they should with the quality they have, I'm not saying it's a free hit for Villa but they go under the radar and if they can play in the right way, it could be more silverware for them.

It's a lovely PSG kit this, by the way. Bit of a retro feel to it.

Aston Villa win a free-kick and a chance to put the pressure on.

They win a corner but nothing comes of it.

This is the first time a lot of these PSG players have been involved in any sort of match during pre-season.

For Unai Emerry, is this an opportunity to see what his side need to do this transfer window?

Paris St-Germain have got a lot of their players back from the World Cup and that means they look like a formidable outfit tonight compared to some of the Premier League teams we have seen in recent weeks.

Aston Villa almost unrecognisable from their Europa League win in May.

The fact that Brian Madjo is starting such a game is a worry. Maybe Unai Emery is living in La La Land. Such a wonder why he'll make such an audacious decision. I hope it works out for him.

  14. Unhappy PSG given extra dressing roompublished at 19:47 BST

PSG v Aston Villa (20:00 BST)

Paris St-Germain complained this week that the dressing room for their Super Cup match against Aston Villa at the Red Bull Arena in Salzburg is too small.

Aston Villa are using Red Bull Salzburg's home dressing room, leaving the Champions League holders with the away one in Austria.

Sources told BBC Sport the French club wanted to be able to have the same size space as Villa, especially as they are the reigning Super Cup champions after beating Tottenham on penalties last year.

Uefa was able to allocate them a spare dressing room, normally used by the officials, to give them more space and the same as Villa.

Omar Artan has arrived to referee tonight’s UEFA Super Cup final, two months after he was denied entry to the United States and ruled out of the 2026 World Cup.

The Somali referee was stopped at Miami airport in June and was refused entry over what US authorities described as 'vetting concerns.'

He had been due to become the first Somali referee to officiate at a World Cup.

Wow look at the PSG team. They are taking this game a lot more seriously than Villa are and I'm a Villa fan, saying that why are we resting so many World Cup players when PSG are not resting theirs?

PSG v Aston Villa (20:00 BST)

Tonight's game is a repeat of the Champions League quarter-final from 2024-25, where Aston Villa were so close to pulling off a huge shock.

Trailing 5-1 on aggregate in the second leg of the tie, they roared back from 2-0 down to win 3-2 on the night, eventually bowing out 5-4 on aggregate/

It was one of the biggest signs Emery had turned them into a side which could compete with Europe's best.

But, 484 days on from that match, Villa's line-up in Austria will has a drastically different look.

Morgan Rogers, Lucas Digne and Youri Tielemans have been sold while Amadou Onana is out injured until next year.

Fellow midfielder Boubacar Kamara is in the XI, but is only just returning from a serious knee injury he suffered in January.

Emi Martinez, Ezri Konsa and Ollie Watkins have not travelled after playing at the World Cup, with Emery giving them a month off.

Five of the substitutes that night are also no longer at the club.

It's the PSG fans making all the noise at the Red Bull Arena this evening.

A flag of Luis Enrique lifting the Champions League is being vigorously waved behind the goal.

Both sides had an allocation of just under 7,000 for the game, with the stadium holding 30,188.
