I was there against Zaragoza in 95 in Paris (our tickets were in the Zaragoza end), Barca in Paris 2006, and in Copenhagen against Galatasaray in 2000. This time I’m staying away. Might even go for a run during the game.

  6. What happened when Arsenal last reached the Champions League final?published at 11:18 BST

2006 at the Stade de France in Paris - it was Barcelona's fifth Champions League final; Arsenal's first.

Blaugrana 'keeper Victor Valdes was equal to Thierry Henry's two shots in the first three minutes as the Gunners looked to make a fast start.

At the other end, Jens Lehmann became the first player to be sent off in a European Cup final, bringing down Samuel Eto'o and leaving Arsenal to compete the biggest game in their history with 10 men.

That was just 18 minutes into the final.

Arsenal rallied to lead at half-time thanks to a huge header by Sol Campbell and as the second half went on, Gunners fans began to dream of an unlikely win.

But the north London side couldn't hold out - in his final game for Barca, Henrik Larsson set up Eto'o to level the final with 14 minutes to play before assisting Juliano Belletti's winner.

A night of twist and turns that ultimately ended with disappointment for Arsenal fans in Paris.

Whatever happens in the Premier League, Arsenal know that a date with destiny awaits.

Here's how Arsenal have fared at the crunch point of continental competitions throughout history:

    • Won the Inter-Cities Fairs Cup 1969-70 vs Anderlecht - 4-3 on aggregate
    • Lost the Cup Winners' Cup final 1979-80 vs Valencia - 0-0, lost on penalties
    • Won the Cup Winners' Cup 1993-94 vs Parma - 1-0
    • Lost the European Super Cup final 1994 vs AC Milan - 2-0
    • Lost the Cup Winners' Cup 1994-95 vs Zaragoza, 1-0
    • Lost the Uefa Cup final 1999-2000 vs Galatasaray - 0-0, lost on penalties
    • Lost the Champions League final 2005-06 vs Barcelona - 2-1
    • Lost the Europa League final 2018-19 vs Chelsea -1-4
  8. What's next for Arsenal in the Premier League?published at 11:10 BST

    Ailsa Cowen
    BBC Sport journalist

As the party in North London dies down, Mikel Arteta will be putting the Champions League final on the back burner for now as the Premier League title is up for grabs first.

Arsenal's final three games of the season are against West Ham, Burnley and Crystal Palace, a run of games that the Gunners' fanbase will be hoping is an 'easy' nine points.

The Gunners are five points clear at the top of the table after Manchester City, who have a game in hand, drew 3-3 at Everton on Monday, meaning three wins will secure Arsenal's first league title in 22 years.

Should City lose to Brentford on Saturday and the Gunners get the job done against West Ham on Sunday, Arsenal would be mathematically confirmed top-flight winners as early as 13 May, if City fail to defeat Crystal Palace on that date.

    Arsenal's final games:

    • West Ham v Arsenal (Sun 10 May, KO 16:30)
    • Arsenal v Burnley (Mon 18 May, KO 20:00)
    • Crystal Palace v Arsenal (Sun 24, KO 16:00)

Rooney saying we overcelebrated is mistaken. How many of those fans at the Emirates last night will be lucky enough to be in the Puskas Arena on May 30?

    Gary, Farnham

I understand points around celebrating and not getting ahead of things before the final, but this is an achievement and it’s right to enjoy it. People bemoan Arsenal’s style at times this season and call it “joyless”, but complain when they show joy and emotion after. I think that’s unfair.

    Gareth, Cardiff

With the greatest of respect to Wayne Rooney, in part last night's celebrations recognised the contribution of the fans, and how much they gave towards making the night special. Moments like these have been scarce in Arsenal's recent history, they should be savoured.

Arsenal academy graduate Jay Bothroyd reckons there will be a clash of styles in the Champions League final regardless of who comes through the second semi-final between Bayern Munich and Paris St-Germain.

PSG take a 5-4 lead into tonight’s second leg in Munich, with the winners meeting Arsenal in Budapest on 30 May after the Gunners overcame Atletico Madrid.

“It’s going to be an amazing occasion and I am looking forward to it,” Bothroyd told BBC Radio Wales.

“It’s going to be a game I think where you have one attacking team and one pragmatic team in Arsenal.

“If it’s Bayern you have to keep the likes of [Harry] Kane, [Jamal] Musiala, [Michael] Olise and [Luis] Diaz quiet, or [Ousmane] Dembele, [Desire] Doue, [Khvicha] Kvaratskhelia for PSG."

Whoever Arsenal face in the final, Bothroyd says the performances of key players on either side will decide who lifts the trophy.

“You have to beat the biggest teams and in a one-off game you never what’s going to happen, who is going to turn up,” he added.

“What I will say is the big players from both sides, whoever it’s going to be, have to turn up and produce big performances.

“You look at the likes of Declan Rice, [Bukayo] Saka, Gabriel – they need to put in big performances.”

Spurs fan here - the 'celebration police' has always just fuelled by ridiculous jealousy and tribalism. We all celebrated way into the night when we won the semi in Amsterdam. A Champions League final is a huge moment for any club and Arsenal, begrudgingly, deserve to enjoy it.

Matt Upson, former Arsenal centre-back, speaking on the Football Daily podcast on Myles Lewis Skelly: "Everything I hear about this lad is pointing towards the fact that it's not about how good a footballer he is, it's about his character. I hear really positive things about him, he has the ability to rationalise things and then go and deliver at various different levels.

"He's slipped into international football, scoring on his debut for England, to be able to do that you have to have that something bit of something special. And then he's had to deal with the fact of, 'right you're out the team.' And then you come and play in a game like this at the end of the season in midfield. He's got an amazing attitude and belief system. He didn't look out of place, he did some nice things with the ball."

Few moments of nerves, but for the most part a very professional performance. Gyok was absolutely monstrous.

Gyokeres had one of his best games ever for us with his CF play, bar that miss! It wasn't boring, our defenders did not sit back. It's The Arsenal and we're going to Budapest for that win! PSG for revenge purposes please!

Rob Green, former West Ham goalkeeper, speaking on the Football Daily podcast, on Viktor Gyokeres missing his big chance: "It would have made it. You'd have said great, you earned that.

"He'd done all the other bits as well, he ran the other team's two centre-halves ragged, he got the better of them in their physical challenges. He was smarter than them. He won a lot of free kicks there. Arsenal just kept on going."

Saka can go both ways - he cuts inside on his left foot but he's got the ability to go down the outside. What that does as a full back is it means you look for help elsewhere and that brings someone else out of position and toward him.

He's super intelligent. He really knows that when two people come towards him, that the space is elsewhere, and his first-time lay off when that's the case is brilliant.

He's a proper asset, he really is. The confidence he's got now in his game... he looks like he's in his early 30s and he's still a young man.

Arsenal forward Bukayo Saka reflecting on a huge moment in his career with CBS Sports:

"Only myself and a few other people that are really close to me will understand what I've been through in my career and the journey I've been on to reach this stage.

"In that moment I just wanted to say thank you to God because God is what gets me through all of these things.

"Some players will not recover from certain situations that I've endured. But he's been my strength through it.

"I'm happy to be here, proud of myself that I can stand here today and still be playing at the highest level and have the opportunity to play in a Champions League final.

Not sure why many people have said Arsenal were fortunate or got lucky with their draw - That's what happens when you top the group in the new format! It's a more important phase than people realise.

    David, Durham

Arsenal were NOT lucky in the draw. They were on better side because they finished top of the league and are still unbeaten this season in the CL. That is not luck - but hard work and tenacity to grind out the results.
