    FT: Leicester City 1-3 Chelsea

45 minutes played, two stunning goals, but just another day at the office for the mesmeric Lauren James.

She had her fingerprints all over that first half blitz from Chelsea - no wonder she was Lindsay's pick for player of the match.

My player of the match has to go to Lauren James. I know that she hasn’t been on the pitch for this second half, but her impact and influence on that first half, with those two sublime goals she scored.

The fantastic footwork around the box for the first one, and curls it into the corner and her second, a nonchalant freekick off the underside of the bar. I think she has been the best player on the pitch today, and she’s only been on the pitch for 45 minutes.

  3. 'Chelsea damage done in the first half though Leicester will take pride'published at 16:32 BST

I think the damage was done by Chelsea in the first half with those three goals in thirty three minutes, they put the game to bed but Leicester gave themselves a bit of hope with that goal from O’Brien, which was the catalyst to their performance and gave them belief in that second half.

Chelsea obviously, were in second gear for most of the match, and I think Leicester will take some pride moving forward.

    Leicester City 1-3 Chelsea

No further goals in the second half as a much improved Leicester hold off an eased off Chelsea to ensure the deficit remains at two.

Hope for the rock bottom Foxes as they look to build into that relegation play-off later this month, and official confirmation for Chelsea that they will be playing Champions League football next term.

    Leicester City 1-3 Chelsea

Leicester look like they might have one last chance as Noemie Mouchon picks up the ball just into the Chelsea half before driving towards the box.

She does well to hold off several covering defenders and make it over the white line but an accidental collision with Sandy Baltimore quells any opportunity for a shot at goal.

Fully concur with Lindsay, it's been a marked improvement from the Foxes, which will give them hope in the weeks ahead.

Yes Chelsea have eased off but the Foxes have also been more solid at the back and more composed on the ball as well.

  7. 'We've seen belief and passion'published at 16:20 BST

We have said before what does Rick Passmoor want from this? For his team to be competitive, to have that belief and that passion, and I think that we have seen that when they got that goal to make it 3-1.

James and Kerr apart, Chelsea have been sloppy and lazy — notably Bronze. How Bright’s discipline and drive is missed and will be. Kerr is badly needed too and will be sorely missed too if allowed to leave. Standards have slipped badly on this evidence.

    Timothy

Think you may be being a little harsh there, Timothy. Yes there have been some mistakes but in the main it's been a good performance. They were 3-0 up and cruising after 33 minutes. It's always hard to keep the foot on the gas when you're so comfortable so early.

  10. GREAT SAVE!published at 90 mins

    Leicester City 1-3 Chelsea

Strong stop from Katie Keane to deny Sjoeke Nusken Chelsea's fourth from near point-blank range.

A note too for Alyssa Thompson's winding run from out wide to set up the German, breathtakingly brilliant.

  11. 'Chelsea haven’t been as clinical in front of goal'published at 16:17 BST

    Leicester City 1-3 Chelsea

    Lindsay Johnson
Former Everton defender on BBC Two

I think Chelsea haven’t been as clinical in front of goal [under Bompastor], but I think that’s because teams have gotten better. The likes of City and Arsenal, who are competing with them. The teams who are lower in the table are going into low-blocks and making it difficult to play through after being beaten by them heavily in previous games.”

  12. CHANCE!published at 87 mins

    Leicester City 1-3 Chelsea

Sandy Baltimore will be wondering how she's not managed to get on the scoresheet here. She does all the hard work, showing great close control to sidestep three challenges in the box but curls her finish wide of the top left corner.

Before taking the goal kick Leicester introduce veteran forward Rachel Wiiliams for Sari Kees.

  13. Postpublished at 83 mins

Corner for Chelsea as they look to add the flourish of a fourth late on. Wieke Kaptein delivers it into the penalty spot but it bounces oddly and somehow evades a couple of team-mates before it's thumped clear.

That is a disgraceful challenge. A red card all day long & and thankful Thompson is a player who wears full size shin pads or that could have been a lot worse!

Thankfully for Chelsea, and the USA, Thompson has been able to run off that shocker of a challenge, and has got some revenge by running rings around Ashleigh Neville in the five or so minutes since.

  16. 'Could have been far worse for Thompson'published at 16:10 BST

    Leicester City 1-3 Chelsea

    Lindsay Johnson
Former Everton defender on BBC Two

Yeah she [Neville] catches her high. She jumps into it as well, so she really catches Alyssa Thompson. We heard the scream, so loud it could have been far worse than what it was for Alyssa Thompson.

    Oof.

Almost a fourth from Chelsea as Veerle Buurman lets fly from about 25 yards, forcing Katie Keane into a sharp dive to her right to parry away.

Decent effort from the centre half, who definitely has that in her locker judging on the stunner she netted in the FA Cup against Manchester United not too long ago.

  18. SUBSTITUTIONpublished at 16:07 BST

    Leicester City 1-3 Chelsea

Another Foxes alteration as Jutta Rantala comes on in place of Emily van Egmond in midfield.

  19. 'Leicester have been a lot more competitive'published at 16:06 BST

    Leicester City 1-3 Chelsea

    Lindsay Johnson

Leicester have been a lot more competitive in this second-half winning their 1 v 1 duels, and making it harder for Chelsea.

  20. YELLOW CARDpublished at 76 mins

    Leicester City 1-3 Chelsea

Chelsea winger Alyssa Thompson lets out a loud scream as she is caught very high by a lunging tackle from Leicester full-back Ashleigh Neville.

The defender can count herself very, very fortunate that she's only been shown a yellow card for that.
