Wrexham clinched their first Championship win of the season in style with an emphatic victory over injury-hit Millwall at The Den.

The Red Dragons went ahead in fortunate circumstances as Issa Kabore's cross struck Zak Sturge and sailed beyond Max Crocombe who was helpless in the Millwall goal.

Despite that opener, an otherwise uneventful first half ended goalless, with neither side managing a shot on target.

It undoubtedly suited Phil Parkinson's side who have not been beaten when scoring first in the Championship in 2026, and they turned the screw in the second half.

Moments after Lewis O'Brien spurned a fine chance to score, striker Kieffer Moore drilled beyond Crocombe from 20 yards out to double Wrexham's lead.

Summer signing Jacques Ekomie then turned fellow wing-back Danny Imray's cross into the net for his first Wrexham goal to cap off a fine showing from the away side.

Victory lifts Wrexham up to 11th, a point and one place behind the Lions who are 10th.

In 2025-26, Wrexham won their fourth league game of the season at Millwall having been winless in their opening three Championship matches.

They repeated the feat in the English capital to truly kick-start their 2026-27 campaign, and, crucially, they did so with relative ease.

Parkinson's men had conceded in each of their four matches across all competitions this season prior to the trip to London.

But they restricted the Lions to an expected goals tally of just 0.24 while not conceding a single shot on their goal as they kept a first clean sheet of the season.

With the transfer window closed and a first win under their belt, Wrexham will fully expect to kick on and flex their play-off credentials from here on in.

As for Millwall, their injury woes went from bad to worse on what was a night to forget.

Tristan Crama, Derek Mazou-Sacko, Alfie Doughty, Mathis Servais, Ryan Leonard, Mihailo Ivanovic, Lukas Jensen and Luke Cundle were all injured for the visit of Wrexham.

They then lost Casper de Norre, Josh Coburn and substitute Zak Lovelace to injury during the loss to the Red Dragons.

With five games across all competitions left to play prior to the first international break of the campaign, Alex Neil's squad is set to be tested to the limit over the coming weeks.

Millwall manager Alex Neil:

"It's frustrating because we're probably down to our last third of the squad in terms of trying to get a team on the pitch and trying to be competitive at the level.

"It's (injuries) certainly not helping us at the moment. We changed our shape tonight based on the fact that we didn't have any wide players ready.

"We ended up having to make wholesale changes, and the difficulty you've got with that is that the understanding throughout the players on the pitch is diluted. When you come up against an experienced team like Wrexham, it makes it a difficult task."

Wrexham manager Phil Parkinson:

"We won here last year, and that was a strong performance, but I think today was a performance of far more quality.

"It showed where the team has progressed to. These are a good side, Millwall, they're a hard team to play at home and away.

"I thought we controlled the game for long periods tonight."
