The long, long international break is almost done. Premier League football will return tomorrow when Arsenal host Leeds at 12:30 BST.

Today we had 15 Premier League news conferences and, unsurprisingly, Manchester City's guilty verdict around their financial breeches have dominated the headlines.

Manchester City manager Enzo Maresca said City's titles are "absolutely not" tainted despite club being found guilty of breaking the majority of the 115 financial rules they were accused of breaching.

Maresca also said he "completely trusts the club" and will speak about his future "when we win the appeal".

But Liverpool boss Andoni Iraola said the "uncertainty" about Man City's appeal is "not good for anyone".

And Manchester United boss Michael Carrick believes the case "throws up a lot of questions".

  2. 'Maresca cut a composed and positive figure'published at 15:24 BST

Liverpool v Man City (Sun, 1630 BST)

    Dan Roan
    BBC sports editor

This was an accomplished performance by Enzo Maresca, who, notably, was accompanied by City’s senior communications official at a packed news conference at City’s training complex.

Unlike some other Premier League clubs who say they will not answer questions about the cheating scandal, Maresca faced a fifteen minute-long barrage, with all but one of the inquiries focused on the controversy.

If Maresca is worried by the prospect of punishment, or the hostility that lies in wait at Anfield on Sunday, he did not show it, cutting a composed and positive figure throughout. And although he would not be drawn on whether he had read the commission’s findings, and also avoided confirming whether he would stay at the Etihad regardless of the punishment City face, he seemed well prepared. Sticking to the script, he repeatedly spoke about his trust in City’s hierarchy, and referred to the “noise” surrounding the club, often returning to the football that he insists is his focus.

One reporter suggested that the club’s chief executive or chairman should be fielding questions, rather than the manager. There was no sense that Maresca was frustrated about having to address the issue, but the scrutiny is set to continue.

Sage said Dean Henderson and Takehiro Tomiyasu also remain unavailable alongside Mateta for the visit of Forest but "we expect all three of them to come back for Lyon, or Brighton".

Ana Khalaili is "ready to play 90 minutes".

  4. 'The court have to make a quick decision'published at 15:08 BST

Crystal Palace v Nottingham Forest (Sun, 14:00 BST)

    Crystal Palace

Crystal Palace boss Pierre Sage on the Manchester City charges: "First of all we already played against Manchester City which is why I don't really have interest to look at them in depth.

"The second thing is now the facts are here I think it is for a court to make the decision and quickly."

On what delays to the sanctions could mean for the rest of the league: "I think that is why the court have to make a quick decision. We will see after this first decision because there is another chance to have an appeal."

    Nottingham Forest

Glasner on why he became Forest's manager: "I took the decision to become Nottingham Forest manager, it was never a decision between Palace and Forest. In the summer when I thought about it could I be Oliver Glasner there, how I want to be, managing with my strengths and qualities? And that's why I'm now here."

Tottenham boss Roberto De Zerbi was asked about the Calciopoli scandal, alluding to Man City's charges: "What do you mean? Manchester City? At the time I was crazy as a player I don't remember my thoughts, just to think on the ball.

"When you're a player you don't think too much, when you're a coach, the focus is on your player. I have no time to think about other problems other than my team, my club."

  10. 'From exceptional to becoming very average'published at 14:47 BST

Arsenal v Leeds (Sat, 12:30 BST)

    Arsenal

Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta on bouncing back from the 3-0 defeat against Brighton: The pain is still there in the tummy.

"Tomorrow we certainly have to play with that because it was a lesson at first. It was a lot to learn from that game, especially when you don't hate certain basics in a football match, especially against a very good Brighton side.

"You become almost not recognisable, you know, and it can happen. It has been more about learning from who we are and how thin the line is from being exceptional to becoming very average."

  11. 'Two very successful and a great two years of my life'published at 14:44 BST

Crystal Palace v Nottingham Forest (Sun, 14:00 BST)

    Nottingham Forest

Oliver Glasner on facing old club Crystal Palace: "There are mixed emotions and I have fantastic memories of more than two years there and great memories of the fans, of the times we had together and the wonderful staff I had met there.

"Two very successful and a great two years of my life and that's why I have positive memories. I am always telling the players the memories always stay forever.

"Definitely before and after the game there will be some hugs because of the time we had together. I hope in a few years I can say the same about Nottingham Forest times.

"I expect a very tight game, I know what they want to do and what we want to do. You know the weaknesses but it's all theory, how can we transfer that to the pitch, that's the most important part."

  12. 'I am confident in Fernandes'published at 14:42 BST

Manchester United v Tottenham Hotspur (Sat, KO 17:30pm GMT)

    Tottenham Hotspur

Tottenham boss Roberto De Zerbi on Mateus Fernandes signing in the summer: "He's a great player, he's one of the best in our team and he needs time to understand the club and come inside the environment of Spurs.

"I have confidence in him. He doesn't start the game bad or worse than others but he has to be stronger. He needs time and that's what we'll give him."

  13. Milambo and Dasilva remain unavailable - team newspublished at 14:40 BST

Aston Villa v Brentford (Sat, 15:00 BST)

    Brentford

Brentford boss Keith Andrews has confirmed that the Bees will be without Antoni Milambo and Josh Dasilva this weekend.

He added: “Antoni was doing really well, but he’s picked up a little knock which has just set him back a little bit.

“As you see with long-term injuries, when they’re coming back it’s not always an upward trajectory. It’s not always really simple to take those next obstacles and he’s been set back a tiny bit on that journey.”

While Nathan Collins, Mikkel Damsgaard, Mathias Jensen, Dango Ouattara and Sepp van den Berg have been "in and around training" with Collins, van den Berg and Jensen "closer to a return".

  14. 'We're both frustrated because Maddison wants to be on the pitch'published at 14:38 BST

Manchester United v Tottenham Hotspur (Sat, KO 17:30pm GMT)

    Tottenham Hotspur

Tottenham boss Roberto De Zerbi on James Maddison: "He's available but he lost three, four days at the end of last week and start of this. James is a special player for us. Gallagher, as a 10, also he's playing well.

"We're both frustrated because he wants to be on the pitch. Not a big injury and tomorrow he can play but the Premier League is tough and you need to be fit and in the right condition to run and fight. He is working well and this is the way.

"The way is to complete three, four, five weeks in a row without feeling pain and problems and then he's a normal player."

  15. Toffees team newspublished at 14:37 BST

Hull City v Everton (Sun, 14:00 BST)

Left-back Vitalii Mykolenko "has got a chance" of being available. Moyes added: "The extra day might help. We will see."

The England players have only just returned, but "hopefully they will all be fit and ready to go."

On Christian Norgaard: "He’s making progress, but I don’t know if he’s quite ready yet to be involved.

"With the numbers being so short then it might be something I have to look at, but if I had my way then I’d give him a bit more time if I could.

"He’s probably had 1.5 weeks on the grass, but he’s only played 45 minutes since last season. He’s not had much football at all."

  16. Forest team newspublished at 14:36 BST

Crystal Palace v Nottingham Forest (Sun, 14:00 BST)

    Nottingham Forest

Glasner issued an update on his side saying "all internationals came back fit and well" but that Nikola Milenkovic and Igor Jesus picked up injuries during their friendly match.

"Milenkovic has a bone bruise and will miss the game, he can't train. Jesus has a muscle injury in his calf and will be out for a few weeks."

He also said that full-back Neco Williams was a question mark for Sunday's game as he is feeling under the weather.

    Chelsea

Chelsea boss Xabi Alonso on the injury that forced Jamie Gittens to withdraw from the England under-21 squad: "He's not going to be fit for tomorrow, that's the bad news. He's injured his ankle and he is going to be out for a few weeks."

On his Three Lions under-21 teammate Josh Acheampong who impressed over the break: "He has played already a few games. He is ready, for sure, to play. He did well with the England under-21s.

"He is playing more mature, more aggressive and knowing what it takes to play in the Premier League. He has played and will play again."

  18. 'Kulusevski is working well'published at 14:34 BST

Manchester United v Tottenham Hotspur (Sat, KO 17:30pm GMT)

On Dejan Kulusevski: "He is working well. Tomorrow he comes with us for support. He is working very well and I think he is an example for everyone. Forget the player but the example of how he reacted to the injury, the character he showed this time was an example and reference to everyone."

  19. 'If somebody cheats they need to get punished'published at 14:33 BST

Crystal Palace v Nottingham Forest (Sun, 14:00 BST)

    Nottingham Forest

Nottingham Forest head coach Oliver Glasner on Manchester City: "First of all I thought, because we have many TV screens in our ground. 24 hours a day it was Man City. Is this is the only problem in the world we have right now? It's so big, in England especially.

"I haven't been here when these things happened, or did not happen. There's no final verdict right now. That's why I don't have any comment on Man City because I don't know. It looks like everybody is saying they are guilty but there is an appeal.

"I can react on the final verdict, but in general, if somebody cheats they need to get punished, if not, then not. I think we all hope for the integrity of the game and of the Premier League that the final verdict is spoken soon. But there are thousands of pages to read, I read a book every night and it takes a long time to read a thousand pages. So it takes a bit of time, we have to be patient.

On the impact of the verdict: "I don't think there is a big impact. If there is a points deduction then there will be, but right now I don't think, especially not for us. I'm not surprised that Enzo said something in that direction, that's why they appealed so they feel quite confident that they have done right. The manager can't say 'I'm in doubt' that makes no sense, they have to be aligned. But I don't think that there is a huge example this weekend. It's not a big topic at our training ground. For us it doesn't matter."

  20. 'Estevao will have more minutes'published at 14:32 BST

Chelsea v Bournemouth (Sat, 15:00 BST)

    Chelsea

Chelsea boss Xabi Alonso on Brazil winger Estevao's lack of Premier league minutes so far this season:

"It's still early in the season. Este is feeling much better from the injury. He has played for Brazil, the context is different, but we know the demand of the Premier League.

"He will have his moments in some games and more minutes."
