She is adjudged to have been too strong in her complaints regarding Alyssa Thompson's penalty shout.

Birmingham City defender Neve Herron has no choice but to intervene as Alysa Thompson surges clear on goal, with only Sophie Baggaley to beat.

She brings Thompson down just outside the six-yard box, the referee waves it clear.

But on closer inspection, it doesn't look like Herron touches the ball.

For London City Lionesses, they have a challenge. They have a lot of new faces and sometimes getting all those new faces together and to be competitive can be a challenge.

They'll be wanting to get into the Champions League, they'll be wanting to chase titles. It's a big challenge.

Lucy Fitzgerald sends a looping header towards the far post from a corner, but London City goalkeeper is able to punch clear amid a crowd.

Birmingham City's Wilma Leidhammar almost creates something for Lee Geum-Min after Wieke Kaptein gives the ball away near the half-way line.

Her long ball through is cut out by a Blue shirt on the slide, and Lee almost beats Hannah Hampton to it - but no dice. The closest City have come to an opportunity this side of the interval.

Jodie Hutton drills in a dangerous cross from the left, but nobody in the middle can get their head to it.

That was some nice build-up play from the hosts.

Hutton then goes down in the penalty area while trying to get onto the end of a cross, but replays show it was just shoulder-to-shoulder contact with Janni Thomsen.

Charlton are constantly looking to exploit London City's high defensive line, but so far the visitors are playing the offside trap to perfection.

Lucy Fitzgerald is the latest Charlton player to find herself racing through only to see the flag go up.

Birmingham City's Oceane Hurtre loses it in City's half and it's seized by Ellie Carpenter, who plays it wide to Alyssa Thompson.

Thompson, again, shows no fear running with the ball at her feet and tries to square it to Keira Walsh but it's cleared by City defender Asato Miyagawa.

Could Thompson have taken the shot on herself there?

Birmingham City are putting some pressure on their hosts in the early stages of this second half.

They've scored two goals from a high turnovers so far this season - that is, a sequence of possession which begins 40 metres or less from their opponent's goal.

The space just opens up between the units, Goodwin did really well at getting to that but I think she'll feel a little frustrated that she didn't keep that one down.

Again Isobel Goodwin goes close to getting her first WSL hat-trick, but she can't keep her header down from Kadidiatou Diani's cross.

She'll be disappointed with that, but great move from London City.

Just when you think Putellas can't get past in the tinniest gap, she manages to do just that.

It's a big shirt pull from Mason, she's fortunate it happens just outside the box.

Mapi Leon's delivery from the free-kick is low and straight into the path of Isobel Goodwin, but the striker's first-time effort bobbles wide.

I'm not sure how Charlton allowed Goodwin to get free.

Ellie Mason is booked for pulling the shirt of Alexia Putellas centimetres outside the penalty area.

The Charlton defender had no choice there - Putellas had rounded her and was in.

London City goalkeeper Elene Lete gets away with one as she takes her time dealing with a back pass, but she just about manages to get the ball away with Gillian Kenney bearing down on her.
