It feels really hostile inside the Metropolitano at the moment. It feels like the game is struggling to find any sort of flow because of how many times the ref is having to stop play.

The first shot on target for either team as Real's Arda Guler has a go from outside the box with Jan Oblak palming it away.

So the ref booked Jude Bellingham but not Cristian Romero initially.

But after going to the screen he basically reversed both decisions. No red card for Romero though.

The ref is coming to the screen.

Another yellow card - this time for Real Madrid's Jude Bellingham. He slid in on Cristian Romero, who then stood on his thigh.

Atletico claimed Kylian Mbappe fouled Alex Baena to get the ball in the first place but the Spaniard threw himself to the ground very easily.

Real forward Kylian Mbappe wins the ball in his own half and is fouled by Marc Pubill to stop a dangerous attack. Yellow card.

Atletico forward Lee Kang-in has a shot blocked from the edge of the box.

Now Marcos Llorente fails to find the ex-PSG man with a cutback.

A third of the game has gone and there's not a single thing that's happened that I would mention in a match report at the end of a game. Maybe Diego Simeone's yellow card...

Mbappe was not happy with that decision from Vini to go for goal there. The pass may well have been the better option as Vini's shot goes flying over.

Vinicius Jr's second chance in three minutes but it's over the bar from just outside the box.

Real forward Vinicius Jr controls the ball with his chest, flicks it past Cristian Romero - who desperately moves his arms so as not to handle it - and then toe pokes a shot over the bar.

Not the first bit of iffy Real defending today. Jonathan David can't quite find Alex Baena and then Giuliano Simeone volleys well wide.

Real midfielder Aurelien Tchouameni blasts in a shot from about 25 yards out but it's well over.
